Generic problem for all CD Players

My unit has power and the tuner and cassette work perfectly. My problem is with the CD. When I put it on cd mode it keeps flashing INITIALIZE!
I tried the solution in the manual and unplugged it and replugged it as they suggested. It still will not work in the cd mode. Nothing works on the cd. It is frozen and I can not open any of the cd slots.
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My unit is doing the same thing, flashing initial. It has worked great for years, does anyone have ant idea what the deal is?
