Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Computer speakers I bought an altec lansing set of speakers for my H.P. computer. I have vista. I hooked them up and they work fine when I play a c.d, but I play a lot of games in various sites, and it doesn't sound right. Why? The speakers are 2 small ones for the left and right, and the big one is just for bass, treble, and volume. Can you help me? Is there something I need to tweak? Buy the way, they used to work fine on all my game sites. The speaker is not that old, and I haven't monkeyed around with it at all. I don't even turn it on when I'm online playing games. I do get really good sound when I listen to videos and live streaming video's. Please help! Bonnie bonnieroot54@yahoo.com

There is one way to try in order to check if your speakers are working for those gaming sites. try to uninstall and re-install the audio driver for your computer.

If other speakers are working, then 745 is defective or the volume switch is set to mute. Please check that, repair it if required.

How do you set up altec lansing speakers on a windows vista computer

If they have regular speaker jacks (1/8th inch) it should be a breeze. Just plug them to the corresponding audio jack, depending if you have a stereo or surround sound setup it may be one cable or a few, and vista should use your existing sound drivers and output the audio to the speakers. Otherwise you can adjust your speaker settings in control panel, which you shouldnt need to. Hope it helps. It can get tricky, let me know if it doesnt work out.

Speakers r not playing

what driver are you using?
try to upgrade your driver to a vista driver (if none available for win7 yet) from your pc manufacturer website (if computer is a known brand computer) or from the audio card manufacturer website

Only one speaker works - altec lansing computer speakers ADA215

The solution is actually quite simple, due to a design flaw. Altec lansing designed a rather cheap mini din plug-in which can either be replaced or repaired depending on your skill and patience level. Your ground contact is fine BUT the positive contact is not making connection due to the fact that the plastic housing has broken away and pulled the contact with it. This can be super glued back into place or just replaced with a new mono minidin plug-in.

I have a set of 4 Altec Lansing surround sound speakers with a subwoofer i bought in 2003 with my dell computer. I can't get any sound from them. Do you have any suggestions? I tried hooking the system up...

If you are listening through headphones that are plugged in to the Altec system, then your problem is the amplifier is bad. Can't help you online with that. Sorry!

Vista messed up speakers

hi Avsandrick
Happy Holidays!
Doing a driver search don't help much, so I recommend 2 things here, wait until MS, make a Service Pack Cd, for Vista, or go to the Altec Lansing Page and see if for your particular model, there are drivers for vista.
other than that, a generic sound driver, could fix the problem.
