Cant get the heat to go past 71

Check your thermostat. Maybe it's cutting off ahead of the set temperature. May need recalibration or replacement.

Fan heather not work

If you have the model number of the unit ( a series of Letters with a few numbers in it). You can go to www.desatech.com and find the manual for the unit under "Wall Heaters." In the manuals there are usually troubleshooting guides. Hope this helps!

Our Lasko 5620 has a digital control, but we can't set the temperature. It says at 76 degrees, no matter what we do. Hitting the control buttons does not work.

Based from your comments, it seems that you have a
defective digital control. Have a check up for this item.
It may need to be replaced. Hope this will help you.

Need manuall for model 5620 electric baseboard heater

If google and manufacturer website are of no help then ask a search agency like http://manualfox.com - They do a great job.
The service is not for free, but often worthy (you only pay if they find what you are asking for).

Cannot get the heating element to turn off properly on Lasko 5620

From whatI have seen on base board heaters if I recall correctly, the thermostat may be sepperate. Usually thermostats on these have a round knob. 1 line goes to this and the other side of the thermostat goes to 1 end of th element and the othe line attaches to the other side of the element. Its possible you have the element wired in directky if it came without a thermostat and without instructions it may till be connected directly. You should have an L1 and L2 connection and hope there is a wire diagram on the cover.
THE reason these basebord heaters used to come without a thermostat is because they are (OR WERE)set up to add on additional heaters comming right on down the wall. At the last one you could tie in and get a correct rated thermostat installed in the center of the series.
Return to LOWES and ask them to remove the instructions and copy them for you from another like model. Or have them contact the manufacturer and request they fax a copy of instructions with a diagram. Also ask if the heater comes with a thermostat. It may stoill be sepperate in another kit.

Yellow caution light

I also have the model 5620. with the yellow caution light on. After taking the unit completely apart I found 2 thermal fuses on the bottom of the unit(appox. size of a nickel). They are located under 'U" shaped brackets which are below the medal heating element. The thermal fuses do not reset. you could test them with a drip or two of souder or wire on the top - if you ran the heater this way it would be a safety problem as the fuse would be overridden. I am throwning mine away.

Underneath the heater element are two thermostats that are run in series with each other. Inside the wire that connects them is a thermal fuse that opened up. Replacing the fuse corrected the problem.

Lasko 5610 red caution light, no power

the caution light is telling you something is wrong. most wired baseboard heaters have a hi limit cutout that may be bad.  it is connected into the heater circuit as a safety device.  you could jump out this element to test this theory.  if the element is shorted, certainly it would blow a fuse or circuit breaker.  if the element is open it won't heat at all.  you need to take it apart and use a test meter to troubleshoot it.
