Question about Casio Exilim EX-S500 Digital Camera

Repair Casio Exilim EX-S500 Battery Lock

The little plastic battery lock has popped out of my camera.
It doesn't look like it broke, it just look like the piece popped out
and I'm not sure how to pop in back into place. I can't really tell
which way is upside down or right side up or which end goes in
first.

I am still able to secure the battery and photo disk and close
the door, however, I would like to pop the lock back into place.

Thanks.

plastic piece that keeps the battery in place locked out, and it looks like there may have been a spring there that is now missing

Sounds like you have a defective motherboard, because it wasn't dropped, it is not usually a lens issue. This is a camera repair place, they specialize on small cameras like casio exilims. I've had a Canon sd750 fixed with them for the exact same problem. The website is : camera repair nyc

Battery not charging

I gave my wife also one of the Casio Exilim cameras. She doesn't take a lot of pictures. But so far the battery has not failed us. There might be a chance that your battery has died on you. I suggest you go to Casio and ask them to test the battery. I'm guessing it is the battery that has conked out. If it isn't then you need to have Casio check on your camera.

Casio Exilim EX-S500 screen is black when turned on

you camera shutter is stuck at close position, you will need to open
the thing up to repair.

As for the totally dark screen, either your LCD or driver board is bad. You will need to open and replace the broken part.
