Look at the TV specification - does it include a surround sound receiver and amplifiers? The tuner may not be 5:1 capable - thus there is no surround on off air broadcasts. If there is then you may need to select the correct menu and turn it on - THIS WILL INVOLVE READING THE MANUAL OR USER GUIDES.

My suround sound works w/dvds how do i get tv volume to work in suround?

Hi Charles,

To hear audio from your surround sound (stereo receiver) the audio signal needs to be managed by the receiver. You likely have your DVD machine connected (going into) your receiver, then your receiver going into your TV --- your receiver is splitting the audio to the speaker, then the video to your tv. To get your TV signal split, you need to have your cable signal going into your receiver as opposed to into your TV directly.

How do u lison to the tv out the suround sound

Get the TV-related audio from the same place the TV gets it - the cable box. TV's aren't known for their great audio capabilites and usually only pass stereo audio.

I've bought a panasonic sound surround dvd player and want to link it to a sky+ box and tv so that sky will play in sound surround. Can you advise on the wiring configuration please?

look at the back of your tv does it have a audio out RCA jack?
it should do plug in the surround sound into that using RCA cables

if your tv does not have audio out RCA jack then you can

get a adapter which makes scart connectors turn into RCA jacks get that off ebay

plug the yellow line to the tv and connect the red and white to suround sound
but with this there are a few problems sound will only come out when surround sound is turned on and skys sound will never play out the tv
if you switch to a PS3 or something it will not play suround sound

yuo best option is the RCA plugs in the back of the tv

because you have not written the model number of the tv or the suround sound i cant help any further

Only have sound on my front speakers with my HT - AS8 home theater system

This is a very common complaint that new users complain about. On your system or modt folks system, they say that the DVD will work fine on the surround but the TV set and or the radio will not. The biggest problem I have found regarding this is that the TV set is not connected through the correct audio plugs and/or the suround selector switch was set to the wrong surround setting. Look on your owners manual for the correct settings when using a TV set or set the setting to differant mode while having the TV set on.

When TV warms up, the sound is scratchy and the image turns snowy, but everything works fine with the DVD player even when warm. the TV works fine when you just turn it on it just happens when it warms up...

You have already diagnosed the tuner as the problem, the first thing to check is the conections at the tuner specially the ground conections, the shell of the tuner is the ground and it conects to the chassis by being solder to it,if all conections check ok look for overheated areas. After that is taken care you still have the possibility of having a bad tuner. If you are familiar with tv service this information will help but if you are not too familiar be safe and call for assistance from a servicer.
