Question about Toshiba RD-XS34 DVD Player/HDD Recorder
Hi, I have the Rd 34 XS, and the DVD drive is now not reading disks, it is multi region but now my original disks or my recorded disk do not read. Is there a replacement dvd ram drive I can replace it with?. I have cleaned it thouroughly, btu still not reading.
Any advice would be very helpful.
I've one of these machines too, and you've stumbled upon the one flaw that lets the machine down. In my experience the only way to solve this is to:
1/ Eject the DVD
2/ Turn the machine off (standby mode)
3/ Unplug from the wall for at least a minute or 2
4/ Reconnect the machine, leave it at least a minute in standby mode.
5/ Attempt to play a known 'good' (commercial) DVD
This usually works although I have occasionally had to repeat the process. Hope this helps, regards,

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
