Pioneer TV External Tuner Problem

My Pioneer Tuner Box PDP-R03E, keeps switching to standy mode for no apparent reason and I can't get it back on. If I leave it for a couple of days, which use to be a couple of hours, it comes back on, but only lasts for a minute, then it switches itself back to standby again. Can anyhone help me with this problem.

I have exactly the same problem with mine, and E01 is written in red on the screen before it stops. The green led (left corner) turns into red and flash... I have found no other solution than yours: waiting !

    If anybody can help me...

i also have the same problem on mine. sometimes it'll go for weeks sometimes it cut off 1-10 times a night. if I tap gently ontop of the left side it sounds just lke something is loose. the sound only appears with the box switched on. i have had it in several times at specialist but no one has so far located the problem. Excuse my bad english.

I am having the same problem. The T.V. goes off by it self and sometimes takes the next day before it will come on again. I have called Pioneer and they refered me to a local repair shop, I was informed that there was a problem with some part? they replaced it and it worked for about 2weeks then it started all over again. Today I called Pioneer again and was advised to push the "clear'" indentation on the front of the box. If that did not fix the problem then I could buy another box $500.

    Exactly the same problem.

It could be overheating, trying to find....

If anyone finds a solution, let us know. lol

As you all know this is a very common problem. It is located in the two power boards inside the machine. These media receivers run really hot and the solder on these circuits boards crack, thus losing power when hot. Leave to cool and ok again. To fix you can remove these boards and touch each solder joint with a fine tip soldering iron until it becomes molten then move on to the next joint. Do all the joints, reassemble and presto, you should be back in business. These board are located between the on-off swith and the rear power input. It is a little fiddely, but if you halfway competant, then it shouldn't be a problem. I've done it a couple of times now, so if anybody feels a bit nervous, I'll do it for them for a small fee. contact glangford@tycoint.com

I had all of the above symptoms and I ended up having to send the box back to Pioneer in California and paid $500.00n for it to be repaired. It is been working fine since that time (about nine months ago.) I wish I had been like (Boktan2001) and fixed it myself for $5.00..... Ed39

I have had exactly the same problem on and off for a while where I get E01 and the screen turns off and have had engineers out loads of times with no solution found but when googled recently got the same advice as from'Glangford' above and he is absolutely right it is the joints that need re-soldering. We just asked our local tv repair guys and they did it and brought the media box the same day and we've not had the problem since - it really does work!

Pioneer plasma model PDP-507XA. how can I tune a TV channel?

The PDP-507XA only has an analog tuner. You will need a set-top box (digital to analog converter) to receive over-the-air signals in most places. For analog cable, you need to set the source to TV. Press the Select button, if needed (it's above and to the left of the arrow keys), to put the remote in TV mode. There is also an Input button on the TV. If the Channel Up/Down keys do not work, you need to reset the TV Press the Home Menu button. Navigate to the Setup menu (Up/Down arrows followed by Enter) and select Auto Installation. Enter your password for the TV; the default password is given in the manual on page 41. It's available from Pioneer here: docs.pioneer.eu/Manuals/PDP_507XA_ARE1430_manual . Set the Language (use the Up/Down arrows followed by Enter. Then use the Left/Right arrows to change the setting). Then set the Country. Press Start to begin a scan for channels. Alternatively, select Analogue TV Setup and enter the password. Then identify the correct receiving system. Manually enter the channels in the Search area. Set Store to Yes to save channels.

I hope this helps.

Plasma Display Starting Up

Could be heat build up in the Plasma display unit. Make sure it has the correct space around it for proper ventilation. Also count the number of blinks on the power indicator it is a code for the reason the unit shut down. On the Pioneer PDP-5060HD I have I was getting 12 blinks on the indicator which indicated a tuner issue. Check your instruction book for info on the over heating problem if it continues. You may have a fan out.

You activated the trap switch. You must now call an authorized Pioneer service center near you. They are the only people that know how to deactivate it.

PDP-4330HD

This exact same problem happened to me 2 weeks ago on my Pioneer PDP-4330HD, and it did indeed turn out to be the power supply. The good news is, you can get it fixed for free, because Pioneer actually recalled the power supply in this plasma and others a couple of years ago.

Here is a link to the announcement on their website concerning the recall. They say that they will do a free in home replacement of your power supply, but when I called the local pioneer repair place, I was told I would have to wait three weeks for an in-home appointment. I ended up taking it in myself, and it was fixed for free 2 days later. Now it works perfectly.

Here's the number to call Pioneer in case the link goes down:
