Question about Jenn-Air JGS8750 Gas Kitchen Range

2 Answers

A Bad thing happened..

I have a Jenn Air JGR 8855 gas AOS range. It is seven years old. The broiler was accidently left on high for about four hours. {Yes, what a ******** - lucky the house didn't burn down} Everything still works, except that when we turn oven or broiler on, we smell noxious smell like burning plastic. We turned it off, felt all around to feel if anything hot, as we suspected electrical fire, but found nothing. We can continue to use the burners. Everything works. We took out all the trays in the oven, the bottom plate and hand cleaned, but thinking we toasted some electrical insulation or something. Any suggestions? Is this thing toasted?

addendum. The smell seems to come from the top control panel area. Again - everything still works.

Honestly cant think of anything magor that could have happened.. there are saftey thermstatsin key locations around the unit turning the unit off of a runnaway temp is detected.. altoughthe broilerwas "on" for 4 hours im sure it had been cycling on and off for that time not constantly on.Figure your self cleaning cycle lasts for 3hours and om sure attains a much higher temp then just running broiler.. NOW all that being said,a call to a local servicer to inspect for possible damage couldnt hurt for the piece of mind!!!!

Broiler does not light....Put in new ignitor; still not working. Checked orfice to make sure its LP and not Natural gas. Its number is #56...Is this correct for LP?

The Jenn-Air Broiler LP broiler orifice is part number: AP4091112. A picture of the part is here: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/whirlpool-orifice--broiler--lp--item-number-ap4091112.aspx . (To me the number looks like 65 to me. The natural gas version is number 47.)

Check the current draw at the igniter. (The meter must be in series with the igniter. I know the bake igniter needs to be above 3.2A.) Other possible causes of the problem are a selector switch problem or the glow bar. (These are things to check if the oven works.)

I hope this helps.

Jenn-air dual fuel jds9860aap intermitently display blinks like it lost power, reset and it will happen again. originally started with a f9 code that has not reoccured. If the oven is on, it will shut off...

Sounds as if you have a bad ground or nuetral wire connection. Unplug and check the connections to your control assembly and the pigtail on the range. I have also seen displays on Jenn-air go bad as well.Replace the clock assembly.

Jenn-Air Electric range clock display

The problem is likely bad capacitors on the clock module. I had the same problem on a similar oven and fixed it by replacing the capacitors on the clock module. Find someone who is good with electronics to help you. The parts will be a few dollars at most. See this link for more info: http://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7902

my jen-Air has a problem with it continuing to beep. Ive tried to get it to stop by pushing all the buttons. When I pust the off/cancel button it just keeps beeping. Tried the stop timer button and same thing. When I turn on either the bake or convection bake button it automatically just shuts off by itself. It is approx 10-13 years old. HELP, or please tell me to get a new one.

Jenn air jgr8850adw won't bake

This usually is an indication of a bad igniter. If this is the standard glow type igniter, it could appear as if it is working, but may not be providing enough current to open the gas valve. This is a safety feature on gas ovens. The gas valve requires a current potential of .32 to .37 amps through the igniter before it will open and allow gas to flow. This prevents gas leakage if the igniter fails to light. The reason your broiler works is probably due to the fact that the broiler gets used less and the igniter is probably in better condition. You can test this theory, if you like, by swapping the igniter for the bake and broil burners to see if the symptoms change. Or, you can simply just replace the bake igniter with a new one. Make sure you secure the power before attempting, though. You shouldn't have to turn off the gas for this. Chances are that's all it is. I hope this helps you.
