Question about LG WM-2277HW Front Load Washer
LG Front Load Washer gets the fabled "LE" Error. I drain and clean the pump filter regularly. The event seems to be random, but it is annoying, have to unplug the machine and wait before restarting.
Is there a real fix, or, is this a persistent LG screwup?
Solved LE error for my WM1832CW by replacing Hall Sensor. Bought part 5016501KW2002A for $Cdn 26 at Sears parts store. Thanks to TC at http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=28214 for instructions:
1 Open rear panel. Take 17mm nut off (it's the only one)
2 Pull off what looks like a goofy hubcap (it's held by magnets)
3 Unscrew the six 10mm bolts and gently lower the coils
4 Remove and replace the Hall Sensor (plastic comb looking thing)5 Plug in the sensor and re-install the coils and cover.
30 minutes for me.
Test spin cycle if desired by following chart on page 19 of service manual at http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/content/pdfs/125448.pdf
(note lower models skip step 10 (heater test).
Hall Sensor Part labelled as K351 in diagram on page 41 of service manual.

Hey mark1963, You nailed it right on the head. I have the LG WM2277Hb. Just recently gave me the LE code. In my case the washer drum would just make a hum sound and looked as if it was trying to spin but wouldn't. I found your solution on fixya.com and decided to order the part and fix it myself. 6501KW2002A SENSOR ASSEMBLYSENSOR Very easy job to do. Took all of 20 mins to repair. Just wanted to say thanks. LG service is a joke. You saved me time and money.

The most likely cause is a defective HAL sensor on the motor. The reason it's "random" is part of the problem is due to heat so it may not show up for several washes or it can be an intermittent connection that only opens once in a while. Either way you will have to have someone replace the HAL sensor. The new ones are improved.

Just to let ya'll know in case you don't already hall sensor failure will cause a locked rotor when power applied to stator. As long as stator not energized rotor turns fine .Once power applied to stator rotor locks and low ping noise is heard. After a few seconds le.

SOURCE: LG Washer LE Error
I replaced my hall effect sensor about two weeks ago and just hooked the machine back up a few dags ago. My wife ran about 5 loads through it and it shut down with the LE code again!!! I ordered the part from MCM Electronics and they are sending me a replacement part for free since the first one lasted only a day. Hopefully this is the last time I have to replace this part. It would be great if someone knew how to bench test one of those sensors so I could know for sure if my first one is really defective. I always have a hard time believing when a new part fails so soon.
