LG Washer LE Error

LG Front Load Washer gets the fabled "LE" Error. I drain and clean the pump filter regularly. The event seems to be random, but it is annoying, have to unplug the machine and wait before restarting.

Is there a real fix, or, is this a persistent LG screwup?

Same problem. on the 2077CW model. Still searching for the final solution. Tried all the power off, reset circuit breaker, unplug overnight, still not fixing the problem. Before I call service, I'd like to find the solution so they can fix it the first time. I found some pretty good information about the Hall and Ball Circuits....

Not only did the LE error light come on but the water won't drain from the washer. This is the first time it has done this. Any solutions I should try before I have to call someone to come service it?

I have the same problem again....I posted in May, replaced the sensor and here it is September with the same LE error code again. I love my washer but really! I have unplugged and replugged and cleaned and it looks like the sensor is gone again.

My LG Steamwasher is two-years-old now and about 7 months ago the LE code came on a few minutes into the wah so I called the extended warranty service and they sent out a repairman who said it was too much soap or too many clothes. He replaced the sensor and I have been very cautious not to overload clothes or detergent (not that I had ever done it but according to the repairman that is what was wrong). In March the LE code came up agin, another repairman saying the same thing, another replacement part, ditto for June and July. I am tired of repairmen telling me its me when I know how careful I have been with my washer. I have not saved money because I have to put smaller loads in the washer (when its working). I was speaking with the last repairman and asking about the rate of return on LG frontloaders and he replied "the return rate is about 2%, and the other 98% just gave up and shot themselves!"

Same here...LE and washer won't work.

can anyone explain how the additional soap can trigger the hall sensor. i've been having the LE problem intermittantly since i got the machine 3 months ago. i want to rule out soap except i did change brands and the problem happened again. planning on changing the sensor myself no matter what. such a pain

  • Anonymous May 07, 2009

I have the same problem. I have an extended waranty and have had them out 4 times. Finaly they replaced the motor. It is a overload (LE error) The washer is less than two years old. I also have a phanton leak that they cant find that only happens from time to tim. Also the dispenser tray leaks from time to time. The first three times they blamed all the problems I am having with using too much soap. I use half the recomended amount. I will never buy another LG product. We redid kitchen and have LG Refridge, Stove and microwave. All have had problems. LG stands for low grade. I just dont understand why they got such high ratings from consumers and other magazines.

Solved LE error for my WM1832CW by replacing Hall Sensor. Bought part 5016501KW2002A for $Cdn 26 at Sears parts store. Thanks to TC at http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=28214 for instructions:
1 Open rear panel. Take 17mm nut off (it's the only one)
2 Pull off what looks like a goofy hubcap (it's held by magnets)
3 Unscrew the six 10mm bolts and gently lower the coils
4 Remove and replace the Hall Sensor (plastic comb looking thing)5 Plug in the sensor and re-install the coils and cover.
30 minutes for me.
Test spin cycle if desired by following chart on page 19 of service manual at http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/content/pdfs/125448.pdf
(note lower models skip step 10 (heater test).
Hall Sensor Part labelled as K351 in diagram on page 41 of service manual.

Hey mark1963, You nailed it right on the head. I have the LG WM2277Hb. Just recently gave me the LE code. In my case the washer drum would just make a hum sound and looked as if it was trying to spin but wouldn't. I found your solution on fixya.com and decided to order the part and fix it myself. 6501KW2002A SENSOR ASSEMBLYSENSOR Very easy job to do. Took all of 20 mins to repair. Just wanted to say thanks. LG service is a joke. You saved me time and money.

The most likely cause is a defective HAL sensor on the motor. The reason it's "random" is part of the problem is due to heat so it may not show up for several washes or it can be an intermittent connection that only opens once in a while. Either way you will have to have someone replace the HAL sensor. The new ones are improved.

Just to let ya'll know in case you don't already hall sensor failure will cause a locked rotor when power applied to stator. As long as stator not energized rotor turns fine .Once power applied to stator rotor locks and low ping noise is heard. After a few seconds le.

SOURCE: LG Washer LE Error

I replaced my hall effect sensor about two weeks ago and just hooked the machine back up a few dags ago. My wife ran about 5 loads through it and it shut down with the LE code again!!! I ordered the part from MCM Electronics and they are sending me a replacement part for free since the first one lasted only a day. Hopefully this is the last time I have to replace this part. It would be great if someone knew how to bench test one of those sensors so I could know for sure if my first one is really defective. I always have a hard time believing when a new part fails so soon.

I have an lg tromm front load washer. I am getting the IE fault. I have cleaned the inlet screens and drain filter. It gets stuck at the 13 min mark, seems like it just won't go to spin cycle.

LE code mean suds have built up. Using non he (High Efficiency) detergent or too much detergent will cause this error most front loaders use he detergent only there is a he swirl on the container
Let your washer sit idle or 45 minutes.Unplg washer as well
Plug in and turn on as left spin speed select no spin press Start/pause to start a drain only cycle. When cycle is complete remove load. Start a rinse•spin cycle to clean out residue.
If the sud were too much you may have to repeat

Wm1814cw le error cade

Make sure your drain hose is not bent - the code looks like a drain issue. It could be your drain pump. I had to take mine off and it was full of "gunk" and that can keep it from draining, causing that code. I have no affiliation with Home Depot, but they have a great web site showing how to get to the drain pump and how to take it off and clean it or probably just to replace it. Go in to the area to order the part and there should be an option to view a video on how to install it - not too hard, just follow directions. www.homedepot.com/ApplianceRepair 48de78f6-d540-4f0d-8488-f3f5c589abed.jpg 1bc73971-d1f5-473d-8b8f-f05840bc9002.jpg

Samsung WF209ANW front load washer -- ND error code. I cleaned debris filter and all hoses, however it still will not drain. How can I tell if the drain pump needs to be replaced? Is there a diagnostic...

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

ND error in your Samsung Front Load washer indicates no drain issue. To start with check the drain hose for any clogs and try cleaning it, then check restriction in drain pump assembly or loose wire at the pump. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Drain error still after making sure the washer was level, making sure the drain filter was clean, the drain was clear and replacing the pump motor assembly

LE error? Don't buy a new sensor, don't call a repairman and don't scrap it. The fix is EASY!

Turn the drum 4-5 times by hand to resettle the load, move spin speed to highest, Quick Wash, Speed Wash. It shoudl work just fine. I've had to do this a few times over the last 5 years. Why everyone wants you to BUY parts is beyond me....maybe they need to make some $$ ?

"OE" error. Filter cleaned but makes terrible

You still have something caught in the drain line on the machine. Check the filter again and the lines coming from the tub to the pump, and from the pump to the waste line. Here is a link to LG's document on the "OE" error.

Le Error on front load machine

Hello,This a common problem for all front loaders. Your washer will not drain or work 'cause your outlet filter is clogged. Usually this small door is on the left side front below of your washer. Expect some water to come out when you open the door, etc. Clean out your filter and refit.....things should be fine.

Thanks

LG front load washer OE error. cleaned filter need

The LG error code OE simply means "the pump is blocked". Presumably the water isn't being emptied properly. As with all error codes it is possible that there is a cause other than the exact description in the error code explanation but basically this error means as far as the washing machine is concerned it thinks the water isn't pumping out. A pump, or filter blockage is the most common cause but it could be caused by other faults such as a faulty pump, or even a blockage in the drain hose or somewhere else in the system etc.

LG themselves have some information on this error code..

Le error code on my LG washer.

On LG Washers the code LE is for motor overload protection.
Ensure that you are not overloading washer, make sure to clean pump by draining at little door at lower left corner(check manual for instructions), unplug for 30 minutes to reset, now try running cycle again. if it fails again something else is causing the motor to work to hard and will require a professional.

Fixed!

"LE" code Stator/Motor Error.

It was a simple fix and only cost $17.68 at PartStore.com no affiliation.

Hall Sensor 6501KW2001A

http://www.partstore.com/Part/LG+Electronics+Incorporated/LG+Electronics%2fZenith/6501KW2001A/New.aspx

Here is the Service Manual

http://oasisappliance.com/products/lg/LGComboServiceManual.pdf

Bonus, it actually completes a wash cycle and does not stick at 6 minutes, drying forever.

Freakin service tech stated it was the Power Control Board, IDIOT!

While I was in there, I cleaned out the heater blower assembly and sensors. They were full of caked on lint and the sensors had debris all over them.

Also cleaned out all the lint and debris around the rubber seal, this will eliminate those annoying mildew oders.

Hope this helps someone, Happy New Year!
