Good day,

Yes, it has a digital tuner. It is functioning based on the command set by the buttons or signal/command from remocon.

It is digital (HD), I don't need converter?

If your set is labeled as "HD ready" then it will accept HD signals from, for example, an external HD tuner or other source. The set can be HD Ready, as is my Samsung TV, but my set has only the older NTSC type tuner. I therefore use a digital stream HD tuner which works great to receive over the air signals. Also digital does not mean a set is HD. There are sets that are standard definition digital sets that can receive digital signals, but do not produce HD. If you are using cable, in most cases, you can continue receiving your cable as usual.

Can the tuner be upgraded to get digital signals?

There is no way to directly change the internal tuner to receive digital/HD signals. I would simply purchase an external tuner unit, but be sure to get one that has at least component signal outputs and is HD. You want to be able view HD & not just digital. One of the small tuner boxes would get digital, but not HD. I personally have a Digital Stream tuner with a set I own and have been very pleased with it. The tuner has many extra features and also has an NTSC output I use for recording with a regular vcr. Shop for an HD tuner unit. You will be impressed by the kind of performance you will get from this set.

Toshiba Color TV CF306 - Can it receive digital, with converter

The short answer is yes. The method is to set the TV to receive either channel 3 or 4. The converter will receive the digital broadcasts and "re-broadcast" them on either 3 or 4 analog for the TV to receive.

Let me know if you need anything else.

I have a Hitachi 32CX38B, does it have a digital tuner?

To answer your direct question, yes it has a digital tuner. To answer your real question, NO it WILL NOT receive the new ATSC (digital) broadcast stations. The tuner itself is a digital one but works only for analog signals. The changeover in February will change the broadcast signals to a new digital format that will require a converter for your set to continue to function. Please note that the converter is only required if you receive your signal from rabbit ears or a rooftop antenna. If connected to cable or satelite, no change will be seen and no converter is needed.

Does the GE 35GT740 model have a digital tuner?

As far as I know, this set DOES NOT have the required tuner capability. Please note that the changeover only effects those using rabbit ears or a rooftop antenna. If you have cable or satelite, no change will be seen. The change over is from an analog broadcast signal to a digital one. Your set has a digital tuner that expects an analog input signal.

Hope this helps,
Dan

Switching to digital

No. The change only effects people that use rabbit ears or a rooftop antenna. If you receive cable now, no change is necessary. You will not be able to receive the HD channels, but you can't receive thiose now either. An HD set will show you the HD signals that your current Standard Def set can not show. Please note that your current set has a digital tuner but processes analog signals. The "digital" tuner that is requried for rooftop reception is to process digital broadcasts as the analog signals will no longer be broadcast.

I hope this helps,

Digital or not

Sory to say that this set DOES NOT have the digital tuner required for over-air digital broadcasts. IT does have a digital tuner but only for cable and analog over-air stations. You would only be effected by the chagneover if you uise rabbit ears or a rooftop antenna. If you have cable or satelite or any other subscription TV service, you will not be effected.

Tuner

Afraid this set does not have a on-board digital tuner, But do you have this set hooked to cable or a antenna? If you are hooked to cable you will not have a problem, If you only have it hooked to a antenna then you might want to go to www.dtvtransition.org and check out some options for getting a converter box
