Tv turns on but the screen is black. Before it went black we were haveing bands of color on the top and bottom and everthing was kind of like in three D they were all three colors and like 3 of them there.

The device sources and the inputs have not been set to the correct mod.There could be a problem with the TV it's self for it to be turning off like a problem with the power supply for the TV.

if that 2 band according to you from top to bottom,it has a defective vertical stage.if this two band appears one on top and one at the bottom,it`s on vertical stage.leaky capacitors,resistance changed or resistor devalued ang ic`s, are too weak to amplify a signal to make the screen complete....

This is one of several models that had a common problem.

If set comes on with sound and you after a minute or two see a faint odd band of noise top to bottom on the screen to the right side C509 which is a .047 cap at 200 volts is bad.

Cap is seen in attached photo(location marked and cap here gone).

The cap when you locate it from the C509 number which is on top and bottom of board may have a crack or not---it is the cause of this problem.

There is a hard way and a easy way to get at it--let me know and I will explain.

There are several brown caps here and some plugs here are removed.

I would not try operation of the set in this condition too long.

Sounds like your LCD Control board went bad. Very small chance it is your main board since you said you cant bring up a menu.

turn the center dial ( for green) down slightly then turn the other two the red and the blue up slightly to get the best screen without a dominate color screen.

It is a vertical issue, not horizontal.

Is the picture you have complete? Is there a black band along the top as well? If so, it may be because you are providing an HD aspect ratio of 16:9 instead of the TV native 4:3.

Try hooking up a VCR and watching a tape. Do you still have the black band on the bottom?

I found replaing the inveter worked on most of these Tv's that have the band, and or stipres going acrros the Tv. You can also check out this website www.teexp.com and see if they come out to you're area to have it looked at.

They are undergoing maintenance right now, so I couldn't find any answers for you. I would check back with the website to see if they can help you. If the Standby timer light flashes, you may need to have the TV repaired. I turned the set on and everything was fine, then the screen went black and mullti-colored horizontal (arched) lines were flashing across the screen. The next day I turned the set on and everything was fine for about 5 minutes then the problem reoccures again. Haven't looked for solutions till now.
