Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

I have a Canon ip6600d which continually won't print due to "the following ink tank cannot be recognised" message. Or it sometime says there are two colours of cyan etc. Derr! This problem has been going on for quite a long time and I thought it was just due to low ink. I could overcome the problem by opening the printer and reinserting the ink cartridge. Now however it won't let me do this. I have cleaned the cartridge connection ands this seemed to help for a couple of goes but now it's dead! Looking forward to a solution. Thanks Jennie

SOURCE: I have a Canon Pixma

Thanks for getting back to me.
Sorry this ain't a solution but it seems to be the only cash-free way to contact you. No problem not solved - though I have tried everything. Dismantled the printer; washed, dried and replaced the waste ink pads; washed the print head; blew compressed air through the print-head sponge; replaced the cartridge 3 times; printed hundreds of test prints. I can't think of anything else to do and so I think the only solution is to replace the printhead (probably not even available) or replace the printer. The latter is looking most likely.

but, in case E3

I have workaround for the empty tank issue:
- buy or borrow another not empty tank
- place it in
- start the printer
- it recognises the "new" tank
- turn off the printer
- put back the old, empty, but refilled tank
- turn on the printer
- print something
- it will pop up a dialogue window saying
"The ink level of the black/color tank cannot be
determined. The ink level determining function will be
disabled for the black/color tank.
If you want to continue printing without this function
press the Start button on the printer."
- Press the Start button on the printer and ignore the
button 'Cancel Printing' appearing on the dialogue window.
- The dialog window disappears.

You can print your refilled tank as many times you want from this time.

When you go to 'Printers /Canon /Properties /Maintenance / Printer Status / Ink Information' it says that the ink level measuring function has been disabled for: black [40] / color[41]. You can ignore this this message, the printer will work perfectly without this stupid function.

My IP6600d has suddenly refused to print, saying 'the following ink tank cannot be recognised'. It says its the yllow cartridge, which is half used and a genuine canon item. I have tried taking it out and...

Have you checked the quality of the chip on the yellow ink tank? If scratched, the printer will not be able to read the ink tank information and will stop. I had to replace an ink tank in the past with another one with a new chip due to the first one was defective. If you have a spare yellow tank with chip, you may want to replace the old one so you can continue on.

Error message more than one ink tank of the same color is install

You need to take all inks out and install 1 at a time to see what the display says after each. Sometimes you get a defective ink tank and it will report on the wrong one. Canon will replace a defective tank within 30 days of date of purchase.

On my printer MP530 I get the following message: INK LOW M, I have refilled the tank M (color red) which was empty and the message continues.

refilling the tank does not solve this problem, canon design this printer to have their ink tank replaced, so do not worry too much about the ink level, as long as the printer prints you are fine....all you need to do is refill every time the print quality is not good, don't wait for the ink to dry up, this could cause damage to the print head.

Canon ink tank problems

I think I figured this B!tch out.

When you get the error:
"More than one ink tank of the following color is installed" or
"Ink cartridge not recognized"

Open up the lid where the cartridges are and hold done the "SEARCH" button. This has been working for me, and I bought my ip6600d in 2005, so my machine is old, and ready for this..........ORIGINAL INK!!! Never really used it beyond printing very few pics. So I was really pissed when I found these messages to almost 5 years after buying this printer. So to recap, open the lid where the ink cartridges are while holding the "SEARCH" button, hold it up for like 5 to 10 seconds, place lid down still holding the search button, then let go of the search button. I did notice the alarm was lit, but went away after I released the search button. Good Luck!!!

Until I held the search button down I had turned of the printer, reseeded the cartridges and open and closed the lid but it never worked.
