Pop up menu won't go away.

I have had this monitor for over 3 years. Never had a single problem with it. Then tonight out of no where a pop up from the screen menu appears. It says:

INFORMATION
MODEL: SDM-HS95P
SER. NO: 1030985
MANUFACTURED: 2006-09

The only way i am able to get it off the screen is to press one of the menu buttons at the bottom of the monitor. But that only works for about 5 seconds because the information pop up just reappears again. Also, every button i push brings me to the menu screen. I press an arrow key and it brings up the main menu. I can't even access menu features. The menu just disappears when i press another button. It's very weird. I've searched everywhere to find out why this would do this. If you have any ideas of what is happening to my monitor or an idea of how to fix it please let me know.

Thanks
-caz

I have the same problem, I tried to reset it but to no avail. The information box still pops up right darn in the middle of the screen for about a minute, and then goes away and then returns. The only way I can access the menu controls is to hold the menu while pressing the other buttons simultaneously. It is not my computer since I connected the monitor to my HP desktop and then my Macbook, and the problem still persist. I disconnected the power and video cables, reconnected them and even used a different power outlet. Don't know what else to do, Sony is usually a stand up company, I still have a Tricolor TV that was probably from the 80's and works fine, a Sony receiver from the 70's that is still humming tunes to my Kenwood speakers. What gives Sony?

If you can do the factory reset in the pop up menu, try it. You might have to try with another power supply, cord, or computer and check where the problem is.

I also have the same problem. And tantong Ive done the same and checked with another computer and it does the same thing but it takes longer to happen. It seems the longer the screen is shut down the more time before the "information" pops up again? This may just be a crappy way that sony created to make you buy a new screen, becasue from the research I've "attempted" to do I can not find a fix for this like I have so many PC problems before.

I have 3 out of 4 Asus VK222H LCD Monitor Menu/Brightness Appearing w/o Button Press, stays onscreens for varying amount of time, then dissapears for a while to return again. Monitors bought August 2008....

Mine did the same. I don't know what caused it, but removing the menu button solved it. Crude but effective.
I took a knife, pried out the Menu button, then took a pliers and removed the little black plastic button and problem solved.
Now I can't change the settings, but switching between VGA, HDMI, and DVI works just fine. No more annoying brightness pop-ups that don't go away!!!

Config screen keeps popping up

A friend of mine had the exact same same problem. I think I fixed it, because it has been 2 hours, without the menu popping up. You need to open the monitor:

- Place it face-down on a flat surface
- Remove the cover of the hinge by gripping it with both hands and gently squeezing and pulling.
- Undo the 4 screws and remove the stand (base)
- Undo the four screws tha hold the cover down (4 corners)
- Use a flat screwdriver to seperate the 2 halves (I used 2, a small one to lift the back, a bigger one for leverage)

You will see a small PCB, fastened by 3 screws, at the bottom (where your menu+on/off buttons are) with a ribbon connection to the screen. Next:

- Unscrew the PCB, and gently lift it out.
- Clean the microswitches and the ribbon cable connection.
- Reassemble the monitor.

To clean microswitches and the connection, I used Kontakt Video 90 spray. There must be sprays on the market where you are. It's basically an alcohol-based cleaning spray. Good for cleaning video/tape/floppy heads, CD/DVD lenses, memory modules, etc.

Good luck!

Menu keeps popping up

Never a good idea to clean with any spray cleaner. The cleaner does get down in the button bar and cause corrosion and shorting along ribbon cable. Use screen wipes for computer monitors only on TV's and any type of monitors. You can remove the back of the case. And remove the button board and clean with a cue tip and alcohol along ribbon cable.
