I have 2 volfenhag zx-4712 dvx dual voice coil 12" 500w rms subs. i have noticed most class d amps only have one set of speaker outs like kicker 1000.1 hifonics bx1000 has two pos. and neg. terminals. if i buy one class d amp 1000w rms @ 2 ohm, do i need to figure out how to wire the dvc's @ 8 hom's to run the amp at 2 hom's? also my other question is if i ran paralell sub A pos terminal1 to sub A pos terminal2 to sub B pos term1 to sub B pos terminal 2 to the amp and so on with neg wires is this 4 homs?

The easiest way to think of wiring voice coils and subs is this:

- Two items of the same impedance in parallel = Half of the impedance
- 4 ohms in parallel with 4 ohms = 2 ohms
- 8 ohms in parallel with 8 ohms = 4 ohms
- Two items of the same impedance in series = Double the impedance
- 4 ohms in series with 4 ohms = 8 ohms
- 8 ohms in series with 8 ohms = 16 ohms

- DVCs in parallel, 2 subs in series = 4 ohms
- DVCs in series, 2 subs in parallel = 4 ohms
- DVCs in parallel, 1 sub = 2 ohms

MY BEST GUESS FROM WHAT YOU HAVE SAID IS THAT THE BOX WAS TO SMALL. BUT YOU ARE OVERPOWERING THE SUB RUNNING IT AT 2 OHMS ON A 750 WATT AMP WITH A SUB THAT IS ONLY RATED FOR 600. NO MATTER HOW FAR YOU TURN YOUR SETTINGS DOWN, YOUR STILL PUSHING TO MUCH POWER FOR THE SUB TO HANDLE. IT IS ONLY RATED 600 WATTS FOR A REASON. ESPECIALLY IF YOU LISTEN TO MUSIC THAT HAS A REAL LOW END AND THEN A HARD HIT. REMEMBER A HARD HIT WILL SPIKE YOUR AMPS OUTPUT THEREFORE PUSHING MORE WATTAGE TO THE SUB.

your subs are the problem, not your amp, your wiring your subs paralelle, means dropping input ohmage, allowing your amp to over heat with minimal load, check the amp specs for running at low ohms, most hifonics amps are rated 2 ohms and higher, some however will run at 1 ohm, only on class b-a amps though.(competition) dropping ohmage will allow the amp to push more power to the voice coils, however the voice coils may not be rated for 1 ohm power, what ohmage are your coils rated at? do you have a min. of 100 amp inline fuse on your 1-0 awg wire? do you have internal fans? you can add mosfets to the amp but if you do so, you'll have to re-program your amps mother board.

The 2 sets of terminals are connected internally. Having 2 sets just makes it more convenient when wiring multiple subs. The amp is rated for 900 watts RMS into a 2 ohm load. The specs claim that it is stable at 1 ohm but does not give a power rating.

The Radial SD competition series from Phoenix Gold are rated to handle up to 600 watts RMS. If you have the model RSdC124 with dual 4 ohm voice coils, it would be best to wire the voice coils in parallel for a 2 ohm load and connect the sub to one set of terminals on the amp. If your sub is the model RSdC122 with dual 2 ohm voice coils, you should wire the voice coils is series for a 4 ohm load and connect the sug to one set of terminals on the amp. Wiring the voice coils in parallel will result in a 1 ohm load. And, while the amp may be stable at 1 ohm, the sub will be seriously overpowered.

Te dual inputsm are tied together on the output side thus having a "MONO" amp. Most class D anps are stable down to 1 ohm (check your manuel) therefore, 2 2ohm subs are a 1 ohm load. 2 DVC (dual voice coil) 4 Ohm on each voice coil will give each sub a 2 ohm load so 2 dual4 ohm V's will give you a 1 ohm load as well. Parrallel all conections.

ok this gets confusing sometimes. Ok first look to see what ohm your subs are. If you have a dual 4 ohm sub When you run that on sub + to + and - to - then that will make that sub 2 ohm. its different on ohm if the sub is say a 8 ohm then putting the wires that way will bring that sub to 4 ohm. Now lets say you have 2 subs that are dual 4 ohm and wire both of them + to + and - to - and go bridge the amp which would be both wires from sub both + together and both - wired bridge on the amp will make it a 1 ohm to the amp. Please post what ohm your subs are and i can tell you alittle more about it

That all depends upon whether or not the sub you are running has dual voice coils or just a single voice coil. The 800a4 is a four channel amp; thus the only way you can bridge it will be 3 channel or 2 channel. If you are running a dual voice coil sub then you can wire the amp two channel and get 400 watts x 2 @ 4 ohms. Make sure that you sub can handle this kind of power though.

First of all how many ohm's are each subwoofer rated at . Are the subwoofers dual voice coil or single voice coil. Once I know that I can help you. I think the JL amp is not recommended below a 2ohm load.

The amp's not actually a very good match for the sub, since the sub can be wired for 2 ohms or 8 ohms, and the amplifier is most efficient at 4 ohms in bridged mode. My advice would be to wire the amp in bridged mode, and wire the sub for an 8 ohm load. To do this, the amp's (+) wire should go to the (+) terminal on one of the sub's voice coils. Then run a wire from the (-) terminal on the OTHER voice coil to the (-) terminal on the amp. The remaining (+) and (-) terminals (on opposite voice coils) should be connected to each other with a wire.
Your original wiring setup had the amplifier connected to only one voice coil, while the other voice coil was shorted.

You say you have 2 p312d2 subs. Ok so the d2 stands for dual 2homs (2 X 2homs voice coils per sub) , conecting in parallel the 2 voice coils of only one sub will create 1hom load to the amp, and if your amp is 2homs stable per chanel that means you are lowering too much your homs causing the overhwating to it.

so if i run paralell sub#1 dvc to dvc then paralell to sub#2 then paralell dvc to dvc, then paralell to amp is this one ohm
