Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 Digital Camera
Hi Guys, Can you please tell me where I cen get a spare lcd display as mine broken ? Thanks Agnes
Call the manufacture of the camera to see if they will sell you spare parts. Most, and including their authorized service reps will not sell directly to an end user. They have some lagitimate policies about why they will not. It is more than simply making money fixing their products.
It would be best to let the manufacture service rep do the repair.
A simplified point of view from the manufacture and service rep side:
Many times people will buy specialized parts to try their own repairs, and damage the parts. This is especialy with CMOS and very delicate parts. Then they go back and have an argument with the manufacture that the parts were defective when they were really originaly not defective. I have seen this many times myself when I was doing service.
The other aspect is that when the customer repairs his own equipment, he will not have the training and skills, and proper test equipment and tools to properly do the service. He ends up with a high end product that cannot perform well, and this can work against the repution of the manfucture.
With TV sets, microwave ovens, and other high power devices, there are safety conserns where manufactures are very nervous about having customers venture inside. Selling a part to a non qualified or approved person can pass on legal safety responsibility from the manufacture.
Some of these display panel modules require special heat seal connectors and ribbon cables to be changed. This depends on their particular design. Some models require IR surface silver soldering to replace. You may replace the display yourself and find that the new one does not work because there are other parts that were also damaged along with it, or you may accidently damage the display from static or some other means.
