    It blinks and shuts off

This answer is not helpful, there is obviously something wrong with the auto shut off system. Pulling the power to the iron makes it come back on, but only for another minute.

I have the same problem and the solution given does not help at all! Obviously we are moving the iron if we are trying to use it and the iron is cooling off. I plug mine in, the light comes on and it starts to heat up. After about 30 seconds, the red light starts blinking and the iron cools off. In order to iron a dress shirt, I had to plug and unplulg the iron at least 10 times to do a good enough job. This is my 2nd Rowenta iron in 1 year with the same problem. Can anyone offer a useful solution? Thanks!

Having same problem. Iron is prematurely shutting off, despite the fact that it is being moved, shaken, etc.

While I'm ironing, it just turns off. I've tried plugging and unplugging - to no avail. The outlet works with a radio, so it's not the electricity.

This is the second Rowenta Effective iron that I will return for a refund. I bought the first Effective iron and the problem occurred, so I returned it for another one. Now, after 60 days, the same problem has occurred with the new iron. My husband was ironing his shirt this morning and all of a sudden the heat was gone and the auto shut-off light was flashing away. When he dumped out the water it was brown. Too bad, we really liked the iron, but we will not purchase another one. I have not notified Rowenta about this problem as I do not have time to return it for repair. Judging by the other posts, there is a problem with this model iron and the automatic shut-off button.

I've had this iron almost two years and for the first time, it shut off while my husband was ironing his shirt and shorts. All the lights come on but no heat. Please let me know what I should try to do.

i am havin the exact same problem. if there is no true remedy how to i go about gettin a exchange or refund. i do not have my receipt or box it cam in

I have tried all of your suggestions but no heat - just proper lights are displayed. Obviously, others are having the same problem with their irons. You should either replace them or take them off the market as you are advertising them to be the best product when in fact they do not last.

Hi have a nice day! Ensure that the unit is tightly plugged into a working outlet.
Some units are equipped with our patented Motion Smart Auto Off technology. Moving the iron will cause it to begin to reheat.

I was given a Rowenta Effective with no instruction booklet and I can't get it to work properly. When I turn it on it gets hot but soon after that bottom light goes out and the auto off light blinks

If you start ironing with it, does it come back on? It usually doesn't take long for auto-shut-off irons to turn themselves off--a few minutes in the upright postion, and about 30 seconds if left sitting in the down position. Once you start the ironing motion, it should come back on.

Have you try with lower heat setting?
It seems like it might be thermostat or thermal fuse that is not working properly.

I plug the iron in , 5 minutes later it turns off ! Is that a auto shut-off problem or something else

The iron has an auto shut off of usually 8 minutes. The iron will automatically turn on if you move the iron. If this does not answer your concern, let me know and we can look for a solution. Thanks.

Unless you have a 5 or 6 hundred dollar iron, or unless it is brand new, and still under warranty, there is an excellent rule of thumb when an iron quits working: Buy a new one! These days, irons can be purchased cheaply enough that it is WELL worth the money. Not just for the convenience, but for the safety issues. This is an appliance that could burn your house down even if it's in PROPER working order. Hope this helps!!
