My dryer will not stay on its a hoover 505 ED. When it goes it does rotate in the opposite direction as it should. I would really like to see if it is something I can fix myself before paying out for a technician. Thank you Brenda

Does this timer count in hundreds of seconds or just seconds

Most timers count in 10th of seconds as they rotate, but minutes are shown on the dials. No need to know, as you spin the timer wheel, it just registers the minutes you set on the dial, not the seconds. Always turn the dials ONLY in the direction they automatically travel, not in the opposite direction. Forcing the dial in a counter-clockwise direction can cause breakdowns.

The easiest way to check the door switch if you do not have a meter is to connect the wires coming to it together. Then try it. If it work the switch is bad. All you will be doing is bypassing it so you can test. If you do have a meter, the switch is a normally open switch. When the button is pushed in, it closes making a circuit. While you have the back off. Go to http://www.partselect.com/ModelFrames.aspx?ModelID=323612&ModelNum=DBSR463EG2WW&mfgModelNum=&ManufactureID=2&Selected=00125777i04&Position=2&mfg=GE&Type=&Mark=2 and look at #507. This is most likely the problem. If it is, if your not able to check these you will want to replce #505 and #506. When #506 goes bad the dryer cycles on #505. When #505 goes bad the it cycles on #507. When #507 goes out the dryer stops all together. #507 can also be put out by the vent being clogged. Good luck.

Hoover Model D6104 Dryer has stopped working and makes a loud noise. Opened up the back and the fanbelt appears to have become dislodged from wherever its supposed to be. Not sure how to fix it or where...

If the belt has broken , then obviosuly it will have to be replaced.
On some models it goes directly rond the drum on others it goes round a small tensioning pulley as well, it is a fiddly job, but can be done if you feel competent enough.
Hope this helps.

Blower moter fan

Before attempting to remove blower, run the motor and note the direction of rotation. The blower wheel can be very difficult to remove. It is screwed on to the motor shaft opposite to the motor rotation such that every time the motor starts, the blower wheel gets tighter. The best way to remove, is to put an adjustable wrench on the blower wheel (from the motor side) and using another wrench or locking pliers on the side of the motor shaft where the belt goes. Rotate the motor shaft where the belt goes, in the opposite direction of normal rotation while holding the wrench on the blower wheel. It will be VERY TIGHT. If unsuccessful, the only alternative is to strike the blower wheel REALLY hard and break it off. GOOD LUCK!
