Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

Sansui SAN0218-80GB; DVD Player with 80GB HDD Recorder Problem: I was using the SETUP PAGE to install the recorder and got to the stage where I had both picture and sound. However the picture was not quite right (Vertical pull)and I was trying different settings to get it fixed. The problem arose when I was on the VIDEO SETUP section. I scrolled down to the COMPONENT which was set to YUV and changed this to OFF. Instantly I lost the picture but the sound was still on. I tried all I could think of to restore the setting to YUV but I could not get the SETUP page back. All I have now is a blue screen and the sound. What can I do?

How can I use the default settings if I cannot get beyond the empty blue screen?

No, I have not tried this but I will do so now.

Hi,

Did you try disconnecting the unit for a few hours from the power to hard rest?

Can the sansui vcr/dvd combo record vcr tapes to a dvd?

No, the DVD section only plays DVDs, to record VCR tapes to DVD you need a ripping device that digitalize audio and video (convert step) and then transfer to DVD specifications this data to disk (record step). The easiest way to do this is using a USB video capture adapter connected to your PC with a DVD recorder drive installed, the software to do this commonly comes as a bonus in the setup disk of the adapter.

Answering my own question,Switch on recorder manually then hold down SETUP KEY and No 2 key at the same time.As this is a common fault with this recorder would advise taking note of this solution.
