Question about Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6600SBT Top Load Washer

"OL" error message

I have the Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine and I hate it! It leaves the clothes all wrinkled. Even after shaking them out, they are so wrinkled that they stay that way and I have to iron everything. But, worse than that, almost every single load of laundry stops and give a "OL" error code. I have to take the entire load out and free the clothes that are wrapped tightly aggitator. Can you help??

The twisting with our Cabrio is horrendous--even shaking clothes out and smoothing before putting them in the dryer doesn't help a lot and I end up ironing almost everything! Besides, who wants to go to all that trouble??

I have the same problem. I have a Whirlpool Cabrio 5.0 capacity and I have to iron everything afterward, eventhough I use the low spin and shake everything out before placing it in the dryer. The quick refresh and enhanced touch up setting on the dryer do NOTHING to remove wrinkles. I am going to try to return them for something else.

I believe that I had this same problem. The machine was skipping the wash cycle. After the water level rose to where you would expect the machine to go into an agitation cycle to wash clothes; it would start a spin cycle and drain the water. In the process of spinning it would stop to display the OL message over and over again as quick as you redistribute the load.

I found the problem to be clothes that got stuck underneath the impeller (round thing at the bottom center of the basket). Somehow I also had clothes get pulled down and got stuck underneath the basket next to the lint filter, these items were shredded to the point that they probably were not causing any issues, none the less they should not have been in there. Even though it was not the problem, I went ahead and took out and cleaned the lint filter since it was within reach.

This machine works a bit different then other machines. The agitation cycle is dependent upon the basket floating up and disengaging from the drive shaft. I guess the clothes that got stuck beneath the impeller did not allow the basket to float high enough to disengage from the drive shaft. Because the basket was still engaged to the drive shaft the drive motor would spin the basket and start a drain cycle rather agitate the load to wash it. The imbalance of the basket caused by the clothes stuck underneath the impeller kicked of the OL error since the basket was spinning at an unacceptable angle. I am not a repair dude but based on my observation of what I did to fix the problem this explanation works for me.

I've attached some pages of a repair manual that I found on-line to illustrate the areas that I am referring to.

The problem OL I fixed on my Carbrio. The water level sensor is leaking air, as the tub fills slowly it looses pressure and misreads how much water to put into tub. When too much water is in the tub the OL error happens. I put silicone around the *** that the clear hose runs to it comes up at the outlet hose and runs from tub to control panel. It was 3 screws to remove the top control panel and a dab of silicon around the tip, replace hose and wait for silicon to set and done. I figured it out by myself and didn't have to call a repair man. I started to try the underneath hose attachment but figured if it was loosing pressure there it would leak. So, Rock on Cabrio because other than the OL error it's the best washer I ever had.

I fixed the problem "OL" before wash or rinse cycle. I noticed if I
raised the tub manually after a resonable amount of water was in
the tub the wash/rinse cycle would start. The water level sensor
was leaking air, as the tub fills slowly it looses air pressure and
misreads how much water to put into tub. When too much water is in
the tub the OL error happens. The clear air line comes up at the
outlet hose tells the control panel how much water is in tank so be
sure to remove the hose while TUB IS EMPTY. ( i made mistake of
removing hose with full tank and the washer thought it was empty
and started spinning water out into floor. So, with empty tub I
removed top panel, then pulled clear air line from control panel. I
put a dab of silicon around the tip the hose came off ( don't get
into the air hole!) , replace hose and wait for silicon to set and
done. I figured it out by my I started self and didn't have to call
a repair man. Actually I am a computer repair man in nashville -

Never Mind... the thing worked for a couple of washes then started back OL errors. I guess I'm going to have to remove the impeller

  • noguile Sep 23, 2011

Well, the above statement didn't fix the OL error but, it was needed because my washer would have different water depths each wash and now they are consistent. I was hoping not to have to operate further but I guess I will have to.

Cabrio washer error code OL after about 10 mins.

The ol error can be caused by many problems, first let's address the over filling of the water, there is a plastic tube that runs from your control to the outer tub. This tube provides the pressure to the sensor in the control board to control the water level in the tub of the washer. If this line has a pin hole or is clogged, this could effect the water level. If your tube is ok then the control board is bad.
the ol error could be any of the following:
cloths under the tub,
bad bearings
basket hub
stater motor
rps sensor
control board

My Whirlpool Cabrio top loading washing machine stops with an error OL . nothing wrong with the loading, this is only a small whash. Where is located this sensor for overload?

The sensing is done by measuring the motor amp draw. If the motor amp draw is high that is an indication of a heavy loaded washer which could cause the motor to overheat OR too much soap being used, OR the wrong soap being used, OR something between tubs. If you is getting an OL and the clothes is not the problem then you may have an item lodged between the tubs. You must remove the inner tub and get that thang outta there. Cabrio service manual

The oL warning comes on, just after the machine fills with water then it clicks through the cycles the water drains and the oL signal comes on. This even happenens when the clean cycle is operating.

oL Overloaded.
"oL" flashes when you got too dang many clothes in there. 18 pounds dry weight per load is what I go by. If the load is fine you could have an item of clothing in between tubs not allowing basket to engage.

Laundry too wrinkled

grabbed this of an official whirlpool web site: Clothing in the washer can become tangled and twisted or balled up.
Under certain conditions, a combination of the wash load, the cycle selected and the subsequent load movement can cause
the load to become tangled or twisted.
The wash impeller has been redesigned to make the wash load less likely to tangle under the conditions mentioned above.
Replace the wash impeller with part #W10141017.
willing to bet your serial number is before this number here. easy enough part to switch if its no longer under warr
