Keyboard corrupt (by 8 users)

My keyboard is corrupt. American English choice reads Alerican Elfish.
There are multiple h's and other letters. I can sometimes get a clearer alphabet by switching to another language. But they are corrupting also.

I have the same problem. It seems to be getting worse. I'm missing several letters and have duplicates of others.

Same problem here. Tried resetting...no help. Had a heck of a time finding the reset button too. Tried running the battery dry and recharging...no help. Now I have no letters at all on the keyboard. I'm getting frustrated!!!

i have multiple letters and some missing letters as well. tried to reset unit but that did not work. help

I have multiple Ks, but no C. Did you try resetting the GPS? Did that do any good?

Hi Y'all -- I called Garmin today and they said to go to their website www.Garmin.com and load their "Updater". I did and it fixed my keyboard issue. You will need to hook up your Nuvi to a USB port. I had to use the USB cable that came with my wife's digital camera. When you go to the website, go to "support" and then to "updates and downloads". Download the updater and it will make your Nuvi good as new. Good luck!!

Me three. Just happened today. The keyboard is missing letters. I'm in the process of letting the battery die and see if that will serve as a hard reset, which it seems like it needs.

I just called them and did even less. He said just plug it in to my computer and it'll happen automatically without going to a web site, and it did! I had never performed a sync or installed any Garmin software before. Also, couldn't find my USB cable, so had to use one from my Logitech/Harmony remote and it still did the trick (i.e. nothing special about the cable, just as an FYI).

He said this should only have to be performed once and it should not be a recurring problem.

I went to Garmin.com, downloaded the updater and my problem is solved! Thank u TX Slim and all others for posting.

I had the same problem with the missing and duplicate letters in my touch screen. I went to the garmin website and downloaded their updater and it fixed the problem.

letter T doesn't appear in the keyboard, "American" appears as "amerecan" and other languages are corrupted also.
