Unit powers up, fan shuts down no light.

When powering up the fan starts for 5 - 10 seconds then shuts down. It tries to restart with same action. The lamp as well does not turn on.

I would say your troubleshooting was accurate. We had the unit serviced and we were told the fan required replacement. We have the unit back and all is well.

    Thanks

The unit could be able to sense fan operation and prevent the lamp from lighting since this could cause heat damage or even a fire if allowed to light without any cooling.
If you can see the fan, try pushing gently on the blades, left, then right, to see if the fan shaft wobbles.

Sharp XR-30X starts up then shuts down after 30 seconds.

sounds like it is overheating -- are the fans installed pointing the correct direction, all spinning up well?
tip

Customize the Shut down button windows 7

Customize the Shut down button The default action of the Start Menu's Shut down button is to turn off your PC. If you want to use the button for another action, such as restarting your PC, you click the arrow to the right of the Shut down button and select an action from the drop-down menu.
What if you rarely shut your PC down completely but frequently restart it? You can change the Shut down button's default action to be Restart -- or Switch user, Log off, Lock, Sleep or Hibernate.
To change your default, right-click the Start button and select Properties. On the Start Menu tab, click the "Power button action" drop-down menu and select which action you want to be the default. Then click OK, and OK again.

sounds like a power supply problem

Test your PSU power supply unit or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

I have a toshiba satellite x205-s9349. It won't boot at all, no beep codes or screen. The fans start and the hard drive lights go on for a bout 4 seconds and then the fans turn off and nothing....

Try this
unplug plug the power cord and remove the battery and hold the power button for 45 seconds,Then reinstall the battery and and try to start the computer,

if it fails to start
unplug plug the power cord and remove the battery and hold the power button for 45 seconds and
remove the memory and any usb devices that may be plugged in,then start it,

If it starts

Allow it to load completely and then shut it down and install one memory stick and restart, if all is well after if loads completely, shut down again and install the other memory stick and restart, if all is well again wait until it loads completely and then plug in and allow to load each of the usb devices you may have

When I push the power button to power the lap top up the light display that says outlet power changes from green to amber and the laptop will not power up.

try removing the battery and just use plug power only if it boots normally then change the battery and the change the power supply unit as well I would just start with the power supply unit first then see if the battery charges up if not the battery is bad replace it. Now if the computer will not start with the battery removed then you have a power supply issue.
Change and replace it. Hope this helps. Also when computer lap top get hot they will shut down to protect the computer wait and let it cool down then try to restart your computer. If this does work and the lap top restarts normally get a fan cooler that is USB powered and the lap top sits on top of it. Also make sure the fan is running and is not stopped. Clean and dust it out once in awhile. I hope this assists you with your problem. John

Dell Dimension 8400 locks up after 15 - 20 minutes of use it doesn't matter the applications that are running. The start button must be pressed and held for a few seconds to power down the unit. It will...

Sounds like an overheating problem to me. Try taking off the side of the case, and starting the unit. Pay close attention to the fans that you can see. leave the computer running, and continue to check the fans. If a fan is going bad, not working, or going to slow, then the processor will overheat, and shut off the computer. Bad fans are easy to replace, just make sure you get the right size, with the right plug. This is just one possible reason for your problem, a further troubleshooting of the unit is needed...possible bad RAM, or video card failure can cause this mysterious shut down.

Projector shuts off after about 45 minutes

Just a long shot, but...

I have an epson 9000i that did the same thing. Turns out that unit has a small fan (I think 60mm) right next to the power supply to keep it cool, in addition to the large fan that exhausts past the lamp. The fan runs non-stop as long as the unit is powered-up for two reasons I can think of - keep the power supply a little cooler, and the lamp a little warmer so there's not such a temp difference when it powers-up. Long story short, that fan had died. I replaced it with an aftermarket 60mm fan and it's been working fine ever since. Hope this helps.
