You probably has a loose connection inside the projector where the signal board connects to the light part.
If you have a technician or friend who is good with technical things, have him open the case, disconnect the cables one by one and put them back into their sockets again.
Then, put the case back together and try the projector again.

Will a bad or old lamp cause my projector not to display a picture?

If it is lighting up - even poorly - then the image should be visible irrespective of the lamp condition - try it in a back out condition. Another test would be to bring up the menu options - if they are visible it will confirm that the fault lies more in the area of the input side of things.

My Panasonic PT-56DLX25 television show a very faint picture. The lamp was replaced only a few weeks before and showed perfectly until now. How can This problem be resolved.

If it did have a picture then try and remove the new lamp and reseat it, sometimes they don't make good connection the first time, then make sure the lamp cover is back in place correctly. If still not working observe the front panel indicator lights as they should blink in a particular pattern such as power indicator flashes.

The color is really dim,

i have a wd62528 62" dlp hdtv that shows a picture but very dim. I have tried numerous things including factory reset and checking the lamp. I started to get a new lamp but was told if i have a dim picture getting a new lamp will do nothing. However, Mitsubishi support said that if i have a dim picture but was not continuing to get worse or darker, then they were 100% sure i just needed a new lamp. I'm confused. Will a new lamp solve my problem or no. i would just buy and try but it is very costly. please help

You may have not reset the lamp counter after replacing the physical lamp. To do this 1. Press the “POWER” button so that the projector projects the picture on the wall (projection screen)
2. Press the “MENU” button to show the “MAIN MENU”
Use buttons “F” or “G” and select “OPTION”
3. Confirm this by pressing “ENTER” so that “OPTION” is shown
Using buttons “5 / 6”, select “LAMP RUNTIME” (lamp operation counter)
4. Select and press the “ENTER” button for at least 3 seconds
5. The “LAMP RUNTIME” (lamp operation counter) will change to “TIME RESET[POWER OFF]”
6. Turn the device off by pressing “POWER” and unplug the power cord
