When it is washing,it spins on one direction,when drying in the opposite.Check your timer switch for open (or worn)contact.

You did not say what model washer you have. Top Load, Front Load and Model Number... That is very important.

As for the dryer..... If the washer is not getting a decent amount of water out of the clothes then the dryer could be becoming damaged continuing to use it. A dryer simply evaporates the water on tumbled clothes in it. It is is set on a TIME DRY setting, I doubt it will work at all. If it is set on AUTO DRY then, it could be running and running and destroying your dryer. You also may have a heating element that is weak or intermitently going on and off.

It is important to know how old, the brand, the model numbers of everything. Also if it is a Gas Dryer or Electric.

Is posible that the timer is not giving the signal to spin or the spining belt is loos or brocken.

It sounds like you need a water pump!
See if it's pumping water next time you do load by looking at the discharge hose going to the drainage pipe and get back to me!

Problem fixed. I took apart the bottom of the washer to access the pump, and found that there was underwire from bras stuck in the discharge tube blocking the water from exiting the washer and that was causing the cycle problem. I guess that the washer knew that there was too much water in the tub and kept trying to expel it.
