Lost your File Menu in IE (Internet Explorer)? PC's/Laptops

Do the following to retrieve your File Menu. Lock the ToolBar instructions as well, and how to minimize and maximize (restore) your IE screen.

Alt - F. This will bring up the file menu.
Use the arrow keys to scroll over to the "View" tab.
Select Toolbars, (do not click) and move the mouse over to "Menu Bar" and click if there is not a check mark.
Once this is checked, the File Menu should stay. Close out IE and re-open to save the changes. The file menu should then remain at place. You can also "lock" the tool bar as well: Follow these same steps: this time at the bottom of the list under Toolbars: make sure the Lock ToolBar is checked. If not, if desired, click this.
Also, if this does not work, you may have accidentally hit the F11 button which maximizes the screen to "Full View". If this is the case, simply push the F11 buttom to minimize back to original size. If the screen minimizes to it's smallest view setting, simply click the box in the middle (next to X close out button), and it will Maximise the screen, but to normal size, and the file menu will remain as well. If the file menu is not there, hit F11 again, and then if still not there (making sure screen is at normal view). Follow the instructions above to retrieve the file menu.

I do not utilize yahoo on my internet explorer at all. Yet this morning I was unable to access the internet. The reason read as follows: internet explorer has encountered a problem with an add on and...

The easiest way to fix this problem is to uninstall the Yahoo Toolbar using add/remove programs. Once that is done, your internet should be working again. If you want the yahoo toolbar, you can go back to yahoo.com and download/install it again, and it should work fine.
Today, 12/15/10, I have had to do this on 5 different computers, so my guess is something in the toolbar was updated, and is causing the problems. Reinstalling the toolbar after removing it did not cause further issues.

While trying to change settings on my computer I lost the Browser bar ie. file, edit, bookmark, icon for home forward and back feature, address bar

Most probably you pressed the F11 key in the upper key row on your keyboard, and it entered "full screen" mode.
Press F11 to exit full screen mode, this should do the trick.

If this is not the case, please come back and write a comment to that effect, we'll try to assist you further.
Good luck :)

I turned off my tool bar for Bing and now I can't get into yahoo.

Hi kuulei51
You don't need a toolbar to go to Yahoo.
Just type the Yahoo web address in the address bar as follows
www.yahoo.com OR
www.yahoo.com.au OR the appropriate address for other countries
Have a good day

Toolbar in my internet explorer is almost gone

Are you missing the Internet Explorer toolbar that displays the File, Edit, and View menus? If so, you might have moved the Yahoo! Toolbar, or some other toolbar over the IE menu, or you might have gone into fullscreen mode accidentally.
First, make sure you aren't in fullscreen mode. If you are, you'll only see the navigation bar with the Forward, Back, and other buttons at the top of your screen. If that's the case:
  1. Press the F11 key on your keyboard.
  2. The other toolbars in IE should appear.
You can press F11 as many times as necessary to toggle between normal and fullscreen mode in IE.
If that doesn't solve the problem, you might have accidentally moved one of your other toolbars over the main toolbar. Try the following:
  1. Directly to the left of the Y!, you should see a thin vertical bar.
  2. Click this bar with the left mouse button and drag the toolbar straight down.
  3. Your main IE toolbar should now be visible.
Once your toolbars are how you want them, you can right-click the IE toolbar and select "Lock the Toolbars" to keep them from moving accidentally in the future.
If you're still having problems with your Internet Explorer toolbars, you might need to visit Microsoft's Internet Explorer support website.
