Question about Fuji FinePix F20 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Camera not connecting to computer

Hello,

I'm hoping someone will be able to help with my problem. I bought a brand new laptop a few months ago. It's a Sony Vaio and is running on Windows Vista. My new laptop works beautifully (a complete change from my previous Dell laptop!) only it does not seem to read or connect to my Fuji F20 digital camera. Each time I try to install or load the software disc that came with my camera my new laptop does not recognize or read it at all. And when I connect my usb cable from my camera to my laptop it won't read it at all.

I have tried to open the folder to in my computer to get my pictures from my camera but it will not come up at all. I even tried taking out my memory card but it does not fit the slot on my Sony Vaio.

I'm really baffled. I don't know why it isn't working.

My camera connected great with my old laptop that ran on Windows XP. And I am still able to connect my camera to other computers that run on Windows XP which leads me to wonder if F20s are not compatible with Sony laptops and/or Windows Vista?

Are there any solutions I could try?

I appreciate any help!

Oh. Thank you so much for the suggestion! I'm downloading the updates now.

I tried looking on Fuji's site for solution and updates but couldn't find the exact links myself. Thanks again!

My camera always began transferring images shortly after connecting it to the PC. Now, it does nothing. I purchased a new memory card and fromatted it thinking this could be the problem. I also re-installed the Finepix software. It still does not respond at all when connected to the PC. Anything else I can try?

My camera does not seem compatable with my new Laptop.I used it perfectly with my old computer window professional. I have put in the disc which came with the camera but no luck. I registered with FinePix on my old computer and everything worked great. Hope you can help.,,

I am having the same nightmare. I have a new HP dv9500 notebook running on OS Vista home premium and I tried to connect my Samsung digimax S800 camera via the USB cable it just does not recognise it! I have tried downloading the driver from the samsung website, ensuring windows updates are ok and following steps given by both HP and Samsung but still no luck and when I try to put the memory card into the slot again I have the same problem it doesn't recognise it. When I tried it on my husbands laptop running Vista it has no problem recognising the camera. I cannot use the disc that came with the camera as it only runs up to XP and I never had a problem on my old computer connecting the camera. What is it with this laptop that is going wrong???

The problem is that when I connect the camera to the pc it won't recognize it. I know that the usb is working fine because it reads everything else except the camera. Pls help

You'll need to update the camera software for use with Vista. The Vaio isn't the problem. Thee updates for the F20 can be found here: FujiUSA

I'm having the same problem with WIN7 its just isn't seeing the damn camera and yet my Blu-Ray player sees it fine only problem with that you can't unload form the Blu-Ray
I got this camera for the front view feature so now I guess I'll have to bring it back to B&H for a different maybe FUJI with which I've had no problems.

Once you get the camera working again by the "shuffling technique", don't connect it to the computer again. Instead, purchase an inexpensive card reader and use it to download pictures from now on. typrice_31.jpg

The camera can not download pictures in pc

Hello and welcome to FixYa

Please go to a electronics store and buy a USB card reader. I bought one last week and it cost $0.5 so its cheap as dirt. Then simply remove the card from your camera , pop it into the reader and the pictures will appear on a drive like a flashdrive in your my computer folder.

This is a much better option than using the camera's cable as it is faster , safer , saves on your camera battery and you don't need to install any software or drivers.

The card reader will most likely also still be compatible with any new camera you buy in future.

Kind Regards
Andrea

New kodak digital camera problems

Hey hashbrownz,
What it sounds like to me is the drivers required for the camera to communicate with your computer have either been deleted or corrupted. I would try reinstalling the software that came with the camera, and I have provided a link below from the manufacturer on how to troubleshoot this problem. I hope this helps!

Sony dsc h1 digital camera

Hello all! I am the one who took the pics of my class and then my wonderful camera stopped working. Before I sent $181 to Sony just to have them looka t the camera. The online helper suggested that I take the batteries out, press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds, let the camera sit for a few minutes without batteries, then place new "good" batteries in it. Well thats what I did and taadaa IT WORKED. I am so excited that I save $181 and my camera is working just as if it was brand new. I hope this solution helps someone!

Unfortunately I don't have a solution for you, but know that you are not alone! I am having the same problem as of three days ago. I have tried multiple computers and even got a new USB cable but the problem continues. Frustrating! Please let me know if you find a solution.
