Ummm this is actually a pretty complicated process, definatly more Involved more then other units . the face plate has to be dropped, the control panel will have to be dropped, 10 or so screws across the very top of unit must be removed. th ebeltis the removed and the drum is removed from machine,(lifted off hte rear bearing assy will take a little lifting but itll pop off. youl then see the heater. there are 4 screws on the back of unit that hold ont he heater pan w/ heater assy. youll need to remove theese as well. unless you have a heater in a bag and your gonna restring into existing pan. id make sure ht e heater it definitely bad before pro ceding further, POWER im sure is off. the heater will be physically broken in a spot if no good if not your looking for a bad thermostat stopping heater from operating, anyway then put unit back together in opposite order and your good to go,

Check Heating elements if ok check the in line fuse that go to drying element and if it open replace it and clean filter and check pipe that blow out side make sure it not stop up because if in line fuse is open stop up filter and pipe that blow air out side will cause the heating element in fuse to open up. And check for lose wire going to element to.

Dryer has no heat

I have one of those Kenmore "Laundry Center" stacked washer/dryer units. It comes built that way - it is not two units stacked on top of one another (if there is such a thing).

My guess is that it is at least 13-14 years old now (it came with the house I bought) and about 3-4 years ago, it also stopped heating. The dryer would run for a couple of hours and all of the clothes would still be damp and the air in the dryer was not warm or hot.

I searched online and found that the usual cause is the heating element wire was probably burned out if the dryer was otherwise running all right. I found some repair instructions online and the procedures to take the dryer apart (can't recall where - just Google it).

The heating element is like a long coiled resistance wire, similar to what you would see in a toaster but heavier duty. It is strung in a circle behind the dryer drum tub to heat the air that enters the dryer.

If you've ever looked into a toaster when toasting, you'll notice that that thin resistance wire glows red hot which generates the heat. Now imagine that thin wire being red hot and the dryer tumbling, causing constant vibration. It's amazing that the heater resistance wire doesn't break more often!

A pretty handy DIY-er can take the dryer apart and replace the heater wire, but the challenge is getting the stacked unit out in the open somewhere where you can work on it. You need a fair bit of room.

My advice would be to also buy the drum belt replacement kit to also replace that at the same time. If you're going to go to the trouble of taking the dryer apart to replace the heater wire, you might as well replace the drive belt and associated felt pad, etc. at the same time. You DON'T want to have to take the dryer apart again a little later to change that part when it breaks. (It's like a timing belt on your car - if you're doing major work on your car and have the engine apart and it's "about time" to replace the timing belt per the manufacturer's maintenance schedule, might as well do it a the same time to save on repeating the labor again.)

The water does not shut off when filling the washer tub in my Kenmore stacked washer/dryer, Model No. 417.93872200. The water keeps rising and overtops the washer tub. What part(s) do I need to replace?

The problem is the pressure switch has failed or the hose is plugged up, has a hole in it. These are usually inexpensive and are very easy to replace. Here is a video this will walk you thru testing and replacing a pressure switch. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available.

I think you need to look at the heating coil to see if it is open circuit, either visually or test with OHMmeter.

Kenmore Washer/Dryer Stack -- Need to replace Washer

first of all. comming from a Sears Technician.. (don't yell) -- the delivery drivers only know about delivering stuff. they dont know too much,
if the two are the same size they can be stacked.
sometimes have to rig something up
and yes, for that model the top is removed, clips go on the rear and screwed at the front.
in some areas it is sold seperatly as a stacking kit
