Question about Black & Decker GT300 Coffee Maker

1 Answer

My new GT300 won't prime.

When I set up the new machine, I hit the clean button like I was told and it blinks a few times and switches over to 7 and 9 oz buttons blinking. I unplugged and plugged back in quite a few times, and even tipped it upside down to empty the little water thingy and still nothing. Should I return it for new one, will the new do the same thing? I bought my old one for $4.00 at a garage sale and it still works great.

Same problem - only the one I purchased was the last one at the store. This problem seems very common and nobody has a solution.

I have the same problem. Called support and they told me to "forcefully" push down the water reservoir... didn't work. They also said to do a system reset (fill water tank, plug in, push 7oz button, push stop, unplug, wait 15 minutes, plug back in) This also did not work.

I fixed mine! The idea here is to help fill the tube inside back up with water. The unit may need a little help to get the suction going.

Preparation: Set the unit so you can easliy reach the back side of the unit. Fill the container with 7 - 14 oz of water and have it nearby. Place a cup underneath the coffee drip container in the front. Have another small cup of water handy.

Process: Plug in the unit to an outlet. Hold as much water in your mouth as you can. Press the CLEAN button on the unit then put your lips over the water inlet valve on the back of the unit. Force (blow) the water from your mouth into the inlet valve. You should begin to hear the unit pushing the water through. Place the water container over the water inlet valve after you have released the water from your mouth. The unit should continue to empty the water container. Now, you just have to fill the water container and make a cup of coffee.

This is the same procedure I performed to get mine going again; I am not trying to make you look like an idiot.

I press the desired amount or the clean button and both 7 and 9 ounce buttons flash. It wont do anything

With the GT300 you can service the unit. You will need a flat head screwdriver, preferably a low quality one, that will need to have a small spot filed out in the very middle of the flat head area to remove a few special screws that are common to these appliances.Luckily it is very easy to modify a flat head screw driver to remove the area necessary to make the tool work well enough to remove the special screws. After that, you will need a phillips screw driver as well. Remove all the screws, some are hidden underneath the plastic grip pads on the bottom as well. You will observer a tin can heater, and a priming pump (white) and an invensys ******** pump (red). The invensys pump (CP1, CL1) is very easy to service and this is what you will find the problem is 99% of the time. Just unscrew the plastic ends (you may need a wrench) on the invensys pump. It will come apart, be careful to keep all the pieces, they will spring apart like a jack in the box if you are not careful. Get all the pump pieces where they are moving again and then put the pump back together. There should be two metal rings with a plastic ring between them. You may have to plug and unplug the unit a few times and get out any excess water before getting the system primed and running again.

Three buttons keep blinking: clean, water and

Hi
First I would start off with priming the machine. Push the water button ( right button) open the steam knob and see if the light will clear? If it doesn't you have a restriction in your flow meter.
If light clears, go to the next light, which is the clean light (left button) Push and hold for 5 seconds until it starts then let it go until it clears. About 30 to 45 minutes.
Then you need to descale. If you have never done it email me.

The blue light is blinking, the water tank is full, but the water isn't heating up at all. should we return it? Or is there something that we missed? We followed the instructions and are getting no where.

blinking light means the water circuit requires priming.
1 - press power button.
2 - place a cup under steamer and turn on full.
3 - turn steam off when blue light stops blinking (probably a few ounces of water in your cup).
4 - you're ready to rock!

Home Cafe GT300 Black and Decker- won't work, brand new

I have the GT300, and it also started having problems with the 14oz and cream loight s blinking. After trying the unplug and replug thing I gave up, I came back to it the next day and it started working again so I just kept running it over and over until I got it to fail again when I opened the lid and put a pod in to make a cup of coffee. It wouldn't work again so I unplugged it and set it back up and held my hand on the lid and applied a little pressure and it started working again, so far with a little preesure applied it still works. My guess is there is a switch that dosen't make as well as it should, you don't have to hold the lid down during the entire brewing cycle just long enough for it to get started. Good Luck
