All of a suddent my Toshiba laptop keyboard stop working

When I use my laptop keyboard to type letters, it just doesn't do anything. Only thing that works on that keyboard is switch on/off. It was working just fine...My daughter was playing with the keyboard for a second (I caught her right away, but who knows what she was doing...) so she might have pressed something to stop the function...Any help will be appreciated!

Reboot and try the keyboard in safe mode didn't work...IS there any way that the key board was locked???

  • Anonymous Dec 02, 2008

I will be typing along and suddenly nothing works or it will go from uppercase to lowercase on its own. I tried resetting the driver and called Tosiba for help the person was dumbfounded and said they would call me back, no response yet. I tried a cordless keyboard and mouse that has a usb connection just for shits and giggles and it worked ok. thats how I typed this. I then tried the laptop keyboard and it works too! What did I do....I don't know but I'm happy it worked.

Reboot and try the keyboard in safe mode [press F8 during boot up].

TRhere is a scroll lock, a number lock and a pause key - most of these functions are available for use in combination with the fn [function] key.

You will possibly need a new keyboard to be fitted into your laptop. Did you spill anything on to your laptop?

Do you have a desktop keyboard you can plug into your laptop via USB? Try this and see if you can type normally

TOSHIBA STALLITE A305 DOESN'T TYPE

Hey,

Find a video on how to unscrew things, there is a place where the keyboard plugs in. Check (carefully, following instructions) that it is plugged in correctly, e.g. unplug and replug the ribbon cable. If that doesn't work, it is possible to buy a replacement keyboard on ebay.

This afternoon my laptop was working fine, then the keyboard started messing up, when I pressed any letter it came up with 4 other letters. Then i pressed '9' once and it continuously typed 9 until I

First thing I would ask is this. Was anything spilled on the key board? I had a situation similar to this and I found that my son spilled a Sprite and wiped it up but didn't tell me about it. One way to check this is to hook an aftermarket keyboard that runs off your USB2 port and see if the keys work correctly that way. If they do, I would suspect that something was spilled into your laptop keyboard.

Computer doesn't recognize ez eyes keyboard

unplug the keyboard, go to the manufacturers website and download and install the drivers, plug the keyboard back in.

If that doesn't work

check your device manager and see what keyboards are in the keyboard section. delete anything but the hid keyboard device and the standard ps2/2 keyboard from the keyboard section. repeat the first set of instructions

if that doesn't work either

take the keyboard back it is most likely faulty

When typing some letters they do othe thing and not type the letter do u know yhy?

Sometimes when you type a key on your keyboard, such as a "/", you might get an accented E, this is because certain QWERTY keyboards are set differently, depending on the region. Information on this can be obtained here:

http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials?os=other
To correct this issue, you need to set the Language Bar to a US Layout. Yes, you live in Canada, but your keyboard is not a Canadian-type Keyboard, it's a US Layout, so when setting up your keyboard, make sure you are setting it to English (United States).

You can change this by going to Start, typing in Language, then selecting Region and Language.

In the window that pops up, change the Format to English (United States), then click on that Keyboard and Languages tab and select Change Keyboards. Whatever you see in here, you want to remove it, since multiple keyboards might interfere with what Windows interprets putting into Windows. Before you remove anything though, click on Add, scroll to English (United States) and click on the + to expand it. Click on the + next to Keyboard, then put a check mark next to "US".

Press Okay. You should now see a selection in here that says English (United State) - Keyboard - US. Remove anything above or below that so they don't conflict. Before you exit this window, change the Default Input Language at the top to English (United States) - US. This should make your keyboard more accurate.
If this doesn't resolve the issue you are experiencing, simply return to this page and post a response. I'll be happy to assist you further.

Letter

The letter "H" on your keyboard got stuck and it's like pressed down all the time. You can pop out the key then clean it. If the issue is resolved, you should not hear the beeping sound anymore when you boot up the unit. Or better yet, if your under warranty, contact Toshiba, 1-800-457-7777 and they'll be blad to repair your keyboard.

Hope this helps.

You can hit some keys randomly and this will stop, but if you start a program (eg. ms word) the same thing happens.
