Well, all I have to say is, if it is too slow, get a faster internet connection.

No, you don't understand. If your internet connection is too slow, then it won't matter what router you have, it will be really slow. But since you have a fast internet connection, my solution was not appliccable there. Also, since you do not want my help here in the problem of this router, then I will just let you beg for help from other people. Goodbye!

Some D-Link routers have chips in them that overheat. Try a different router and see if that helps.

It can take anything up to ten minutes from logging on to getting on line

Try powering off the router and then powering it back on again. After it syncs with the line then it should improve the login time. If not then take a look at your PC and make sure that you have enough spare disk space and that there are no hardware errors showing. Insufficient disk space (swap file space) will considerably slow down the pc boot up process and everything else as well.

Router works fine during daytime, with easy connection to web, but cannot get connected in evenings.

I would think, that your problem, is your ISP's bandwidth, to you, at that time of night the Traffic is huge, and everything slows down, it shouldn't they may say it doesn't but it does. So unless you get a better service provider, or another plan, this will happen, and still may anyway depending in who is used.

My router is limiting my network traffic

You router have limited NAT table size and if you use P2P this will slow down your network traffic for sure. The second reason is ports not forwarded and outbound connections cannot reach your PC. To solve both problems, download and install Router Commander that unleashes NAT table and forward ports automatically.

Slow Wireless Connection or even not Detected

problem a: could just be your isp is slow therefore when you share the connection it is slow when both pc are connected. Also it could be that your firmware on the router is outdated and creates problems for you. Try updating to the latest firmware go to and select your router. In addition, i find with dlink if you use their software to control your wireless adapter you get better performance than if you use windows default software.

problem b. Youa re right wep security creates overhead due to encryption will always be slower than no encryption. If you are just worried about people stealing your internet access then i suggest you use unsecure connections but restrict access to the router by mac address. WEP can be hacked easily anyway.

problem c: use port forwarding for your torrent to increase speed. chances are your firewall and antivirus scans everything thus slowing down your connections.

good luck

Slow internet speeds whith 2700hg-b

You said that you downgrade your net speed from 6mb to
3-800kb. If you have 3-800kb of speed it's very slow, i would suggest to upgrade again.

Problems with speed and local ftp on D-LINK DI-524

you may have to open the port that opensuse uses in your routers settings, this will probably be called something similair to virtual servers or within the firewall settings, you will have to enter the port number that the programme uses and allocate the number against the ip address of the pc that is connecting. The fact that you have 3 cards in one pc may confuse matters for the router,so probably dissabling two of them may prove to be another solution to the problem
