- This is definitly a manufacturing defect. My door lock mechanism failed at 3 months. I isolated the problem to the electromagnetic switch within the lock assembly. I ordered and installed a replacement lock assembly, which solved the problem for about six months - until this morning. Now I have the DL and F error codes again.Whirlpool needs to recall these switches and replace them with something that works.- DooHickey

We went through this about a year ago. We have a HE3T. After the warranty ran out with no problems, we ran into the DL code. The board was replaced at the cost of over 300 dollars. The repair person offered us an extended warranty for 129 dollars...for one year. The first time I researched this issue I literally found hundreds of people with similar problems. It is clear this is a design flaw in the washer. Sears will not do anything to mitigate the problem. Unfortuately, we are dealing with this problem again. My thought is: if you can afford it, scrap your washer and buy something else. But get an extended warranty!

f-dl & f-11 error codes on Kenmore front load washer. Clothes were actually stuck in the washer. lock would not disengage. Tried many things. Ultimately unplugging & restarting a cycle unlocked it for a mere second & i managed to get them out. But problem still persists & it's unusable. Any advice would help. Also we are in the Bahamas & the voltage is slightly higher & fluctuates more than in the states. Can this be the problem? Any advice would be helpful.

When I try to start a job on my Whirlpool Duet I get F dL. The solenoid tries to cause the door to lock a few times (I hear the clicks as the service manual said I should hear) before I get the error. Unplugging and starting over worked a few times but the error keeps coming back. Apparently lots of people have the problem. Is there an easy fix?

We have had the same problem. A tech came out to look at it and wanted way to much to fix it, but after he left it worked fine for a few months. Now it is back to getting stuck on every load.

I also have a problem with the door lock on my KENMORE ELITE HE4T . I can here it clicking, but it won't lock and then I get the DL, F code with beeping. My washer won't start without the door lock engaging.
