Who do you have for a internet provider? You may have to call your internet provider & give them your MAC address on your router so it will be reconized on their end. A router let's you connect more than 1 computer to the internet. You installed the software? What light don't come on?

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

No dial tone when I plug into netgear wgr614

I'm not sure why you think you should be getting dial tone out of a wireless router? If you have bundled service thru your ISP and they are providing phone service then they will provide another device that plugs into your router and connects to your phone jack. This device provides the dial tone.

Lynksys 54g no dial tone

Solid power light indicates that the router is still good. You need to reconfigure the router since you had a new modem.

After a night of thunderstorms, the router is not working properly. Mainly the SYNC light is out. Only power and WLAN are On. Please help

Lightning may have damaged the router and / or the telephone line. Check the line for a dial tone by connecting it to a standard phone. If no dial tone, call your telecoms provider to restore the line. If there is a dial tone, expect the worst for your router. This happened to me a couple of weeks ago and it cost me a new router. I have since put the line through a surge protector.

I think you need help from your telco, not from me. This looks like a local loop problem if you have no dial tone. Call your telco and say, "No dial tone, no internet". They will dispatch repair..

My laptop finds the router but my modem cant get a dial tone

Hi Bill
You are mixing concepts here. Router = Broadband and Dial tone = dial up.
It's one or the other NOT BOTH.
Forget about modems and dialtone completely because you are not using that system.. You are connecting via DHCP to your router, either by wireless or ethernet. Most computers will connect automatically.

Belkin router is unable to connect to 2Wire ADSL modem/router. 2Wire router has DHCP server enabled and Belkin has DHCP server disabled. Belkin is set to obtain an IP automagically. 2Wire IP is...

If the Internet light is off then there is a problem with the phone line to the ADSL modem or the modem is faulty or there is a problem at the telephome exchange.
Disconnect the phone cable at the ADSL modem and connect a phone handset to this cable - check for a dial tone and that you can dial out.
If you don't get a dial tone, use a different or new phone cable.
If the phone line is OK then : -
Ring your ISP to get them to test your connection to your ADSL
modem.

It wont connect

if you have reset the router for any reason, you must have the incorrect settings eg PPOA PPOE or you have not entered the correct password and username. It is also possible that your broadband connection to your isp server is down. On the other hand if you have installed this modem/router in place of a dial up modem or a broadband modem, your modem is still trying to connect, which needs to be dissabled as when you use a router you do not have to click connect unless you are in the routers settings as you are always on line, unlike a dial modem, so you should have uninstalled the modem driver. If you have just installed the router you need to open up internet explorer>tools>internet options>connections and choose never dial a connection, unless its all greyed out, in whicj case you need to go back into the router and check the settings.
