Question about Toshiba Satellite A45-S150 Notebook

1 Answer

Display problems When I start my Toshiba Satellite up, the display looks fine - but then after several minutes the colors turn all strange and you can hardly see the screen. Any ideas on what is causing this? Would it be something I could fix myself?

In 2005 when it was under warranty, it was overheating and was fixed. This display problem started a few months ago. The fan is running, but it seems like it does not shut off. The computer is approximately 5 years old. Thanks

Can you hear any fans spinning at full speed? Are they spinning at all? Either way, sounds to me like your CPU or GPU is overheating, causing display artifacts. I'd take it down to a computer repair shop if the fans aren't spinning very fast or aren't spinning at all, if they are spinning, try to blow out any dust that may have accumulated over the years. By the way, how old is this laptop? I don't think it's the display itself, if it were, then it would be having problems right from the bootup. Also, if you take it down to a computer repair shop, ask them to check if the thermal diode is working.

You do not say how old the machine is or how much use it has had. Sorry to say, it looks as if the tubes that support the display are failing. In short, the screen needs looking at by a computer repair shop.It may be able to be fixed.

  • Hi, hope this will help you with your problem. There are steps to 'change' the visual effects of the "Display." 1. Right click on "Desktop,” click Personalize, click, Display Settings. 2. Identify, Monitor used? 3. Down (arrow) select Monitors graphics. 4. Adjust, (low>high) resolution. 5. Select, Colors (16 bit>32bit), etc. 6. Select, Advanced Settings, click Properties ("check device status"). 7. Update Drivers (only if, necessary?) 8. Click on "List All Modes" select valid (modes) for the monitor. Note: Always click on the 'Apply', and 'OK' buttons after application changes for the process to take effect. 9. "Restart "Computer." *Next go, to: Screen Saver, in the Screen Saver Settings change 'Power' settings. *Next go, to: Start Menu, click on Product Name: (Toshiba), click 'Utilities' click, Toshiba Assist, click 'Optimize' click, "Display"; change power on display. *Next go, to Control Panel, in Mobile PC, click; "Adjust commonly used mobility settings" (changes the following); Display brightness, and Connect Display. “Did this solution help?”

Hi,
The problem with the LCD screen , if the external display is working fine. The LCD needs a replacement. The same thing happened on my Dell and we had to replace the Lcd. The same can occur because the LCD cable gets damaged when you open or close the LCD

Thanks
