... but, just to clarify, I know the remote isn't the problem, but I was thinking the remote might allow us to adjust the convergence with the on-screen menu.

These are amplifer ic's that drive your convergence yokes. this is not something that a consumer can do.

The way you know if the remote is working is to go into the menu again to adjust the convergence and adjust both the red and the blue. Try this in all parts of the screen (if the tv will allow you to) and you will find out that you can adjust somethings but not all of the points on the screen. the one that you can not adjust is the problem ic. If the problem is with the green convergence, do not do anything. Green is NOT for consumers, it is only for techs, and is adjusted in a different menu that only techs can get to.

Convergance problem on lower half of screen.smeared red and orange double vision, but only on bottom appears out of focus, but not double visioned.

The TV has a convergence problem; the IC’s for that circuit will need to be replaced. The part(below) Number is from Toshiba, they provide good advice on replacement parts. Make sure what type of IC's your TV uses first. The cost for this repair runs around $450.00 or more.

Replace the defective Convergence Output IC Part Number
23905094 (STK392-110) using the revised “T” version IC Part Number
23135090 (STK392-110T). When Convergence Output failure is
detected, it’s recommended that both IC’s be changed to the “T” type IC
version. Inspect the Convergence Output IC’s for the “T” type version as
shown in Figure 2. Replace the Convergence Output IC’s using the “T”
type version Part Number 23135090 (STK392-110T).

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

60"marantz /philips rear ICs not working.

try to stick to original part number if possible Pioneer uses this on the PRO-530 / PRO730 models . MCMELECTRONICS has the originals as STK392180 .Also you might want to check capacitors near those ICS for leakage .When these go out they will affect amplification from IC given you not enough adj room .

The Screen looks 3D & Colors don't line up on my big screen????

If the convergence is off more than 1/2 inch or so you can't adjust. you have a failure of hardware. most likely the output IC. This set has 2 outputs for convergence. Each output contains 3 circuits, Six circuits altogether 2 red ,2 blue and 2 green. The normal customer adjustment will only alow adjustment of blue and red. They should be converged onto the green. There is a much more complex adjustment in the service mode for Geometry and convergence. These adjustments are only needed when you replace a failed componnent like the output ic. These ICs have been upgraded several times since the production of this set. The latest and most powerfull version is STK394-160. If feel up to it I suggest changing both outputs and the corresponding output resistors. Then do a complete geometry and convergence alignment.

I cannot adjust the convergence.

You have convergence output failure. The output ICs will need to be replaced and possibly a small component like a resistor or two as well. Expect to pay a service company $350-$450 to resolve this.

My magic focus won`t move my red lines left to right, it will move up and down.

Without knowing make and model of set. i would have to guess that on of your output resistors in your convergence curcit has failed. there is a possiblity that one of your stk amplifer ics is bad

HELP! Should I buy this model for $200

It sounds like it maybe the convergence ICs or it could just need adjustment from moving. If it does need new ICs they are STK392-110 and you can get replacement iCs and free instalation instructions at the following link.

A convergence problem is very commond. In most cases the convergence output amplifer IC's need to be replaced. This is not something you should do. Call a repair shop.

We can hear sound but no pictures..

If there was a color problem like convergence then change convergence amps, if no problem before storm, probably verticle output. A 7 pin IC located on rear of deflection board against heat sink that stands up.
