Red flashing light in the corner on canon rebel eos t3i

The flashing red light in the bottom right is the indicator that the camera is writing to the memory card. If you have shot in RAW this will take a little longer than recording a jpeg as the RAW files are larger. While this is happening the screen will go blank for a short time.

When i try to turn my camera on it flashes a small red light and then it won't turn on, how do i fix this?

Hi,

The Red indicator flashing in the Camera may be the Access Lamp or the Power Lamp. The Access Lamp is located below the Control buttons and the Power Lamp near to the power button. If the Access Lamp is flashing, it indicates that the Camera is accessing the Memory. Do not remove the Memory Stick or Batter while the Access Lamp is lit.

If the Power Lamp is flashing, it indicates that the Camera is turned on. If the Lamp is lit in Red it shows that the Battery is not having enough charge. Insert new batteries or charged Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries to resolve the issue.

You may also try power resetting the Camera. To power reset the Camera, remove the batteries from the Camera and then press and hold the POWER BUTTON of the Camera for 15 seconds and then reinsert the batteries after 1 minute and check if the Camera works normally. If the issue persists, service may be required.

Thanks

Will not turn on, little red light is flashing being that it is plugged in. But still wont turn on.

The red light will flash a code. If it's 3 there are bad caps on the power supply. 2 big ones bulged near the edge. If the light flashes 7 times it needs a Y-Drive and can be a costly repair. Both are common, and remember if there's any doubt take it to a pro. Goodluck.

Don't know what buttons on back of camera are for.

Besides the auto-flash mode, you can select fill flash, flash off, self-timer, and nighttime-view with or without flash.
Press the MODE-SELECTOR BUTTON until the desired indicator appears on the LCD PANEL.
c3015.gif Fill flash and flash off modes remain selected after you take the picture. To cancel the selection, press the mode-selection button or close and reopen the lens cover/flash to return to the auto-flash mode.
Fill flash
c3014.gif When bright light indoors or outdoors comes from behind the subject (backlighting), dark shadows (especially on faces) may occur. Use fill flash to lighten these shadows.
  1. Open the LENS COVER/FLASH to raise the flash and to turn the camera ON.
  2. Press the MODE-SELECTOR BUTTON repeatedly until the FILL-FLASH INDICATOR appears on the LCD PANEL.
  3. Frame your subject within the VIEWFINDER EYEPIECE.
  4. Partially depress the SHUTTER BUTTON. When the FLASH/CAMERA-READY LAMP turns off and the fill-flash indicator on the LCD panel stops blinking, fully depress the shutter button to take the picture.
Flash off
c3013.gif When you do not want to use the flash, especially indoors where flash is prohibited, such as in theaters and museums, or when you want to take twilight scenes or distant subjects that are beyond the flash range, or capture the ambiance of existing light, use the flash-off feature. Use a tripod or place the camera on another firm support, and use high-speed film because the shutter speed in these situations will most likely be slow.
  1. Open the LENS COVER/FLASH to raise the flash and to turn the camera ON.
  2. Press the MODE-SELECTOR BUTTON repeatedly until the FLASH-OFF INDICATOR appears on the LCD PANEL.
  3. Frame your subject within the VIEWFINDER EYEPIECE.
  4. Press the SHUTTER BUTTON to take the picture.
Self-timer with auto flash
c3016.gif Use this feature to include yourself in pictures.
  1. Use the TRIPOD SOCKET to attach the camera to a tripod or place it on another firm support.
  2. Open the LENS COVER/FLASH to raise the flash and to turn the camera ON.
  3. Press the MODE-SELECTOR BUTTON repeatedly until the SELF-TIMER INDICATOR appears on the LCD PANEL.
  4. Frame your subject within the VIEWFINDER EYEPIECE.
  5. Press the SHUTTER BUTTON. The SELF-TIMER LAMP will glow and then blink during the last three seconds of countdown.
    • To cancel the self-timer selection before the shutter releases, close the flash.
    • The self-timer automatically turns off after the shutter releases.
Night-view with flash
c3012.gif In this mode, the camera balances the flash and existing light exposure so you can take beautiful pictures of people at sunset or at night. Use a tripod or place the camera on another firm support, and use high-speed film because the shutter speed at night will most likely be slow.
  1. Open the LENS COVER/FLASH to raise the flash and to turn the camera ON.
  2. Press the MODE-SELECTOR BUTTON repeatedly until the NIGHTTIME-VIEW INDICATOR with flash appears on the LCD PANEL.
  3. Frame your picture in the VIEWFINDER EYEPIECE.
  4. Press and hold the SHUTTER BUTTON for 12 seconds without lifting your finger. Note: If you remove your finger from the shutter button before 12 seconds, the shutter will time out immediately.
  5. After 12 seconds, release the shutter button to take the picture.
Night-view without flas
c3011.gif In this mode, you can capture the natural existing light of city-night scenes or fireworks at night. Use a tripod or place the camera on another firm support, and use high-speed film because the shutter speed at night will most likely be slow.
  1. Open the LENS COVER/FLASH to raise the flash and to turn the camera ON.
  2. Press the MODE-SELECTOR BUTTON repeatedly until the NIGHTTIME-VIEW INDICATOR without flash appears on the LCD PANEL.

The flash keeps strobing uncontrollably and is driving me nuts! Also sometimes the auto focus goes in and out a million times and will never let me take the picture.

In some instances these problems are related. Either your film speed or shutter speed are set incorrectly for the lighting.

Strobe can be set to OFF in setup. Although it does help with ensuring you have the subject correctly framed before shooting in dark or lowlight situations

AF problem,,can be
distracting objects near lens.. dirt on lens

wrong weighting selected.. try centre.. those red boxes you see when you press the shutter button and look through the eyepiece.. they form a cross generally If you have only one side weighted then the AF may sometimes play up.

read the manual carefully to understand some of these things. It will pay off with better pics

insufficient light
wrong shutter s[peed
wrong ISO ( film speed) as related to old ASA for film
camera set to macro mode indstead of normal
please rate my help++++Thanks for using FIXYA

I lost my manual ...red light is flashing near compact flash card opening

PDF here.

If that little red light (just below the 4-way control) is flashing it is indication the camera is attempting to communicate with the CF. if it never quits, most commonly the culprit is an unformatted, or corrupt/damaged CF card. Replace the card, and reformat in the camera.

any images on old CF MAY be recoverable with a card reader on your PC, but the camera will not read them. Reformatting will destroy the existing images.

Flashing Red Light....

The flashing "boat" in the middle of the viewfinder just means the button battery is dead. Camera will still work. It's the little pull-out light grey plastic thing that's next to the heel of your right hand when you're using the camera normally. You need a CR2025 cell.

Nikon S210 flash not working

The flash has been working fine until last night when I tried to take a picture and the flash was set to auto. When I press the button the little red light beside the flash sign lights up, but the camera does not take the photo. When I set it to flash mode, it still won't take a photo. When I turn off the flash, then it does. What could be the problem? Is it in the settings?

The colour on the EVF and LCD is pretty pink and nearly red

Yes it is. I believe Panasonic knows that the built in flash casts a very blue tint so they set the flash WB to very red to compensate. Therefore before the flash is triggered as when you watch the LCD. Some threads here even suggested adjust the WB further 2 knots to the red manually (press " up" a few times on the 4-way button to have better skin tone. Try it. The setting stays even when you turn off the camera.
