there should be a black cap on top to hold that float in place if it is gone you will need to buy a new tank as this (the Float) is molded into the tank

Miele 4066 Water overflowing

Yes - I agree with the above - the water tank has two magnets a low level and high level - both should move freely in the tank and float with the water level - they determine when the water solenoid is turned off and on - if stuck - it will cause the tank to overflow. If both magnets are there and they move freely - then the reed switch in the case in more than likely faulty.

Delonghi problems

I had a similar problem. I fixed it by putting a magnet on top of the float inside the tank - described in the link below. I advise covering the magnet with caulk.

My miele coffee maker CVA 4070 dispensing tubes are clogged

I had this problem ... you need to remove the dispenser from the rear of the door. Then once removed clean in running water. Its a sealed unit but you can squirt high pressure water inside to dislodge the coffee sludge. When clean .. fill with water and make sure the 2 spouts drain evenly. regards

Low water warning light flashing when water level is not low

The water level sensor is based on a floating magnet. The magnet breaks out of it's holder in the water tank. Remove the water tank via the door on the back of the machine, tip the water out (and the magnet will probably come out too). Put the magnet back in the housing down near the water valve, and wedge the black lid on with a bit of plastic. Refill and enjoy coffee.

... or put some black tape over the red light.

Hi,
The magnetic float that is in the tank is stuck in the down position...empty the tank and turn it upside down and rap on the tank to dislodge the float and get it working again...

It is the black round disc on the side of the tank...

Insufficient water intake. Check that the water tank is installed correctly. Check hoses and connections. Check water tank valve.

The machine will say Fill water tank. So, we will take the container out of the machine fill it to or just a little above the recommended line and then put it back into the machine. It will be full and it...

After filling the water tank, can you see if a grey plastic piece, in the back of the water tank, is floating?. If no, then that part needs to be replaced. If it does float, then the integrity of the water sensor, (located in the back of where the water tank is housed into), will need to be tested. Testing this sensor requires, tricking the coffee maker... that the door is closed. With Coffee Maker in the "ON" position, you will need to hold door switch in (located top right corner of unit, with door opened). As switched is held in, you will need to use a magnet and place it around the rear of where the water tank is housed into (Rear-left middle height area)... just around where the water tank float would be, if it were filled with water and inserted into the coffee maker. This sensor isn't visible, but is activated when a magnet is placed around it. If "FILL WATERTANK" message goes away, then replace plastic float or water tank itself.

"Fill water tank" prompt

this has happened to me too just yesterday (26 May 2013), I replaced the tank because I was lucky to have kept the spare bits off the old machine I had and it worked fine. Over time, the water gets into the float and corrodes the magnet. Best to just replace the magnet if you can or the whole tank. Good luck
