Question about Onkyo DV-CP701 Multi-disc DVD Player

1 Answer

Does not recognize discs in drive: "NO Disc" message displayed

Works properly when cold. Can change and read multiple discs.

After warming up, with discs in the drive, it will search for discs but does not find any, displays NO Disc message. Tray can be opened to remove discs, no problem.

Did not think it would help since temp sensitive, but opened player, blew out with air, still has same problem.

Sounds like the optical pickup is going bad. replace the optical pickup part # 24801016A you can get it at www.vancebaldwin.com . there are four electronis sensors inside the pickup A,B.C,and D. this is the focus and read sensors. the laser must land on all four of the "pads" (sensors) these can appaer to work at first but soon begin to degrade their read ability. the E, F sensors can also cause this problem. no the sensors can not be replaced it's the whole assebly.

Tip

Wii "Unable to read the disc" or "Disc could not be read" Messages

If you are getting one of the above error messages:
  • This message can display if you eject a disc during game play. If this is when the message displayed, make sure that you return to the Wii Menu before changing discs if you wish to play a different game.

  • If your Wii console is laying flat, it may be positioned upside down. Ensure that is positioned right-side up: the game disc slot should be above all three buttons and the SD Card slot.
  • Ensure that you are properly loading a Game Disc. insertdisccorrect.gif
    • If your console is placed vertically, the disc label will face to the right.
    • If your console is placed horizontally, the disc label will face upwards

  • If you know you are inserting the Game Disc correctly, but are still have the same problem with only one game (or if you only have one game), try cleaning the Game Disc by following the disc cleaning procedures.
If the above information did not resolve the issue or it is happening with most or all of your games, a repair is necessary.

Cd software disc will not load on to my computer. Isn't being recognized

If in case the cd was not recognized upon loading it to the computer you may do the following to check wether the cd is faulty or the cd drive.
  1. Verify that the correct disc (CD/DVD) is used when prompted to insert the disc.
  2. For programs on DVD, verify that the drive containing the DVD is a DVD drive and not a CD-ROM drive. Most DVD drives will have DVD printed on the front of the drive. For programs on DVD, consider the following:
  • DVD drives can read both DVD's and CD's.
  • CD-ROM drives can read only CD's.
  1. If multiple disc drives (e.g., CD-ROM and CD-RW, or DVD and DVD-RW, or CD-ROM and DVD-RW, etc.) exist on the computer that can read the disc (refer to the items under Step 2), insert the CD or DVD into the other drive and try the program again.
  2. If you are attempting to install a program and the installation does not begin after inserting the CD/DVD into the proper drive, refer to the program's instructions for the installation procedure.
  3. Clean the CD/DVD in the following manner:
  1. Place a small amount of nonabrasive liquid soap on the shiny side of the CD/DVD.
  2. Using your fingertips and warm water, gently rub the soap on the CD/DVD in a circular motion.
  3. Rinse the CD/DVD thoroughly and dry it using a clean, soft T-shirt or lint-free towel. (Do not use paper towels or tissue paper.)
  1. Try to use a different CD or DVD in the drive to see if that disc can be read.
  2. If possible, insert the problem CD or DVD into the DVD or CD drive of another computer to see if the issue persists.

I put in a blank cd and I cannot burn it because in my computer it shows that there is no cd inserted

Here you go...I hope this works for you....
CD/DVD Is Not Recognized
spacer.gif spacer.gif spacer.gif spacer.gif Many times, after inserting a disc into the CD or DVD drive, the disc is not recognized by that drive. CD-read and DVD-read issues can be caused by many sources. Perform the procedures presented in this General Computer Advice article when troubleshooting CD-read and DVD-read issues.

Begin with the first procedure and continue through the list. Try using the CD or DVD after each procedure is completed. For any procedure that requires changing current system settings, record the original settings before completing the procedure.
  1. Verify that the correct disc (CD/DVD) is used when prompted to insert the disc.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600. The DVD drive has stopped working, It works correctly with a lens cleaner disc. but when I try any other disc I get the following message '' windows cannot read from...

Load a CD in the drive then go to My Computer and right click on the drive letter. Now click on explore and see if it opens the folders on the CD. If it can not read the CD files then you may need to replace the drive. Check that the driver is properly loaded and windows recognized the drive properly. Control Panel-System-Hardware-Device Manager then select the CD Drive to see the status of the driver. If it has an error you may need to replace the driver. Another thing to do is go into the Bios setup when starting the computer and see if the Drive is recognized properly. While you are in the Device Manager look at the tab for "Region" which should be set for Region 1. If it is not set for 1 it would cause this problem. Good Luck

Disc error message when load DVD

Are you loading to play or to record?
Commercial DVDs should play.
DVDs for recording may not be recognized by your drive. First make sure that the disc is blank. You must insert a blank disc of the proper format: DVD-R or RW, DVD+R or RW. Even with the proper format, some brands may not behave the same way as other brands.

If you switched to a different brand of DVD's try using the brand you used before. DVD burners are tested with certain brands of DVD's and sometimes the brands that aren't on that list don't work.
