Question about LG DLG5988 Gas Dryer

3 Answers

LG DLG5988W When I push the "power" button, the check filter lite is flashing. The filter is clean and I even vacuumed down below the filter. The dryer turns on and I can select a mode,eg. "normal" but when I push "start" nothing happens. Is there another filter or area that needs to be cleaned? Is there a way to reset the dryer?

Where would I find the door interlocks and connections? Also...an appliance/schematic diagram would help.

Try taping the power button down. I have the same problem, and it is caused by the power button tripping and turning the dryer off and on.

I have the same problem. The dryer was working fine. Now, when I start the dryer it flashes "clean filter" . I'vecleaned out the lint screen, washed it and even vacuumed inside the lint area, wiped down the door and I even checked the vent on the back and outside. Still nothing. Help!

Filter light flashing, filter is clean, vent duct clean, and blow no heat.

Shelia,
It seems that the "piping" from the filter to the duct pipe may be blocked... Can you vacuum "below" the filter, to remove any "fluff" that may have gone past the filter; and, then try the same, from the duct pipe back into the machine.

That worked for my dryer (not the same make or model).

Hope this helps...

Dryer check filter light keeps blinking and dryer will not start cleaned lint filter and nothing happened display on control board blinks when dryer is turned on and that's about it can you assist dyer...

There is a reminder light to "Check Lint Filter" near the lower right of the cycle knob. It will come on every time the power button is pushed. After cleaning the lint filter, if the "check lint screen" light does not go off, it is likely that the touch pad control will need replacement.

LG dlg5988W Gas Dryer - flashing "clean filter" light

i got the same problem and no repair man could help . i think i just got mine fixed 6-15-09 .what you do is go behind the dryer , remove the air duct and then remove the pipe that is inside the machine by removing one screw . this will give you access inside the machine .first clean as much as you can of the lint inside by vacuuming it . if you look to the left you will see 2 wires with a black button in the middle this is the ignitor ,clean it good because i think the dirt is not allowing it to light up . i did that and mine is working but the cooling light is still on .

Check Filer

hmmm..no lint screen means that you have lint buildups inside the machine...check the air lines, and in and out for the vents..first.

My LG dryer will not power up

You may have a broken door switch.  That would be the most likely source of your problem since the machine will not work if the computer senses that the door isn't closed.

somethin might stuck down insinde the channel where the llint filter goes, small sock baby tee or somethin to that effect, it rests against fan and prevents motor from turning, usually lookin down with a flashlight will confirm this

LG Gas Stacking Dryer

The check filter light comes on every load to remind you to clean the lint filter. Cooling only happens when that light is flashing not when it's on solid. If this is a gas dryer check the exhaust hose and vent on the outside of the house. If it is blocked it will not let the unit get to the correct temp due to cycling.
