I keep getting no disc staus when inserting the sony dvd-rw

Hi,
Some DVD players wont read the copied DVDs and
then it show no disc..additionally if recorded disc has not been finalized wherever recorded, other players can not read it..To make sure if it is properly recorded you can try to run them on your laptop...to verify that it works..

However if this is not the case ,I recommend to buy a "wet DVD/CD laser cleaner " from any store.it is available even in Walmart..And clean the laser eye at least twice..
YOUR DVD itself should be clean and finger prints free as well...

Hope this helps! Take care and please Remember to rate/vote and give me

Purchased a Technika Model 19-220. 8 months ago never used the DVD recorder because we never had freeserve. Now we are connected to Freeserve the DVD will play DVD's but no accept blanks for recording...

Thanks for posting to Fixya and it is my pleasure to guide you.

"Will not accept blanks for recording it says No Disc."

from Technika manual: Start Quote
VCR/DVD Recorder; I have connected the TV to my VCR or DVD Recorder via SCART but it is not recording. In addition to connecting via SCART, you should connect the aerial cable from the wall socket to your VCR/DVD Recorder and another aerial cable from the VCR/DVD Recorder to the TV." Also; "Check the DVD is a region 2 disc - to change the region of the DVD player, refer to section 'Changing Regions'.

Note: USB record function is only avilable in Digital/Freeview TV/Radio mode. Due to copyright laws and illegal copying/recording it is not possible to record to/from any other input/output source.

DVD MENU: To access this menu, press [MENU] button on the remote control. TV System - Choose from the following options. NTSC; Normally used for discs from North America, Japan etc.
Auto; For both NTSC and PAL. This TV/DVD player is pre-set to play Region 2 DVDs.
Tip: This television contains one TV tuner, therefore it can only record the channel you are watching or record one channel while the television is in standby mode.

Tip: This TV/DVD player is pre-set to play Region 2 DVDs.
End Quote

You can not record to a DVD, according to their manual. That is why you get the no disc error. It does not have the play sector at the beginning of the DVD. You can record to USB Flash Drive however.

Quote:
USB RECORD - DIGITAL/FREEVIEW MODE
Built into this television is a USB record facility. This function is available in Digital/Freeview mode when used in conjunction with a compatible USB memory stick or USB Hard drive. The benefi ts of this are as follows:
• Pause live TV/Radio and then playback, fast forward and rewind (up to live TV)
• One button record, if you decide you want to record the current programme
• Easy programmable recording from the 7 day TV Guide
• Record TV/Radio and watch/listen back on your computer/laptop
Due to the nature of the product, it is necessary to use a high speed USB memory stick (as the TV reads from and writes to the memory stick at the same time, some memory sticks may not be suitable). You can purchase high speed memory sticks from some computer stores, alternatively, we have a selection of tested and compatible memory sticks available to purchase directly from the helpline/web site. These are available in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB. (Please check the web site/helpline for latest specifications and prices). End Quote

Good luck and please post back that you this has solved your problem and click thumbs up of your success or that I can be more helpful.

Can't find the correct way to hook up my vcr to my dvd recorder to record vhs to dvd disc. could someone please give me some instuctions on hookup please. thanks

connect yellow, red, and white RCA jacks (video, audio rt and lt) to the "out" on the VCR. If your VCR isn't stereo it will only have one audio plug.

Connect the other end of the jacks 9yellow, red, and white) to the "in" jacks probably marked Aux in, on the DVD recorder.

Now follow the instructions on the DVD recorder to set to Aux in (some have two aux front and back). Should have a button for it on the remote.

With the dvd, tv , and vcr on, you should see the VCR on the screen. Start the tape and press record on the dvd, you are set.

I cannot format either dvd-r or rws with this machine.

try a single disk, but make sure format is not (-r or -rw; but +r or+rw )negative is mostly for computers, and positive is mostly for dvds and such; should find single at walgreens or wal-mart.

DVD-RW Recordables

This problem also happens when you try to use vide tapes from other countires inside american vcr players and vice versa. The problem is a format incompatibility. There was several differnt dvd formats when dvds were emerging and in some countries they havent updated to the latest format. My solution would be to get a new dvd recorder or try to change the formats of the files on the disks.

Disc error with some DVDs

If the DVD recorder is an early model, it may be having trouble understanding some of the newer copy-protection schemes that are in use.

There's not too much you can do for this kind of problem, but you can try looking on the manufacturer's website to see if there's a firmware update for the DVD recorder. It would be something you would download and burn to a CD or DVD and then load into the recorder. That would update the DVD player's software so it can work with newer discs.
