That's a sensor issue...something is truly unhappy..kenmore is the least likely to have a service manual online. maybe if you call Sears service, they'll at least give you a hint as to what's up with that..

well, as you may know, not everyone knows everything. among the appliance folk, Kenmore is the most closed with information. Of course, you'll find that soon enough...

besides, what did you pay< 10.00? That would get you around 5 minutes with a service tech.

    good luck

Kenmore elite dishwasher stops in mid cycle green clean light flashes 8 times pauses and then flashes one more time

Float Switch

The float switch may be hung up and this can cause the dishwasher to be stuck in a cycle. see the diagram

Timer / Control

If your dishwasher gets stuck in a cycle first try shutting off the breaker for at least 5 minutes if this does not correct the problem you will need to replace timer/electronic control.

That signals an issue with a faulty heater &/or heater drive circuit.
(that info comes from their troubleshooting guide)
I ran into it this weekend and discovered that the heater coil in the bottom of the washer was broken.

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher clean light ind flashing and won't start

You will have to reset the console. To do this, close the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

...all the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2 minutes).
You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.

That means the control sensed that the heater in the d/w did not operate 3 times in a row. so the unit locks out. First remove the kick plate and you may have to pull the unit out from under the cab, but check your heater. use a meter to see if it reads open, if so order a heater assy it will come with a new control replace it to. If your heater checks good press in sequence normal wash , heat dry ,normal wash, heat dry , normal wash , heat dry three times within 6 sec all the lights will come on then hit cancel. What that did is reset the control and clear that fault. Keep in mind that d/w does not heat it's own water your incoming water temp should be 120. the d/w will maintain that temp. when starting your d/w first turn on your hot water till it gets hot then start your d/w this insures your unit fills with hot water and not cold
