The left latch is broken. I've tried taping the cartridge in but I
still get a remove and check cartridges error or an insert left
cartridge error. I can't find a replacement for the latch on the HP
Also, in the meantime, if I can't get the printer up and running, is their any way to bypass it so I can just use the scanner?

Please unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the
back of the printer for 60 seconds. Now plug everything back in. This will reset
any error messages the printer has. Now open the printer with the power on and
the cartridges should go to the center to be replaced. Take out both Dell Series
5 ink cartridges and make sure the tape is off the cartridges and insert both
back in and make sure the seat properly and latch. Close the printer and it
should print an alignment page. If you still get the error message, please read
Black cartridge = black side(left side) Color cartridge = Color
Photo Cartridge = Black side(left side) Color cartridge = Color
Make sure you are inserting the correct version of black cartridge for your model. Try to remove both cartridges from the printer. Close the cover. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reinsert your cartridges. You can also try to insert a different known working black cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.
Lift the print carriage access door on the front of the unit, just above the output tray.
The print carriage will move into the middle of the access area.

A message will appear in the front panel display requesting that the ink cartridges be aligned. Press Enter
to start the cartridge alignment. Two pages will print. Following the
instructions printed on the second page, place the first page on the
scanner glass in the lower-right corner and then press Enter
to finish aligning the cartridges. Remove the page from the scanner glass when complete.
HP Officejet 7200, 7300, and 7400 All-in-One Series - 'Incorrect Print Cartridge' or 'Insert Print Cartridge in...Stall' Message Displays on the All-in-One After Installing a Cartridge
After installing a cartridge, the error message Incorrect Print Cartridge or Insert [Black or Photo / Tri-color] print cartridge in [right / left] stall appears on the product control panel.
Follow these steps to resolve the issue.
Step one: Remove, inspect, and reseat the cartridge
The cartridge might not have full electrical contact with the product. Removing and reinstalling the cartridge might help.
HP cannot guarantee the quality of remanufactured or refilled cartridges. Use genuine HP cartridges to ensure good quality.
Make sure that the product is turned on.
Press the power button ( ) to turn on the product.
Open the product cover and wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
Open the cartridge latch.
Press down lightly on top of the latch.
Pull out the bottom of the latch to unhook it.
Slide the cartridge out and inspect it.

Do not touch the copper electrical contacts or the ink nozzles.

Check the copper electrical contacts for debris. If any debris is evident, proceed to "Step two: Clean the cartridge and carriage contacts."
Make sure that the clear nozzle protective tape has been removed.

Do not try to remove the copper electrical strip.
Look at the number on the cartridge label and make sure it is compatible with the product. Compatible cartridges are listed in the product user guide.
If the cartridge is not compatible, obtain the correct cartridge, and then go to "Step five: Replace the cartridge." If the cartridge is compatible, reinstall it in the product:
Hold the cartridge with the nozzles down and the copper electrical contacts facing the product, and then slide the cartridge into the carriage.
Cartridges marked with a triangle go into the left carriage slot.
Cartridges marked with a square or pentagon go into the right carriage slot.

Push down on the cartridge latch until it snaps closed.

The following error message appears on the color graphics display after you insert a cartridge: Remove and Check Print Cartridges . The printer will not print. The message does not specify which cartridge has caused the error.
This error message indicates that the printer cannot determine which cartridge is causing the error. Follow the steps below to solve the problem.
Remove the color cartridge from the left stall (which has a blue latch) and refasten the latch. Leave the other cartridge in place.
Close the printer, wait 10 to 15 seconds, then look at the LCD display.
If the LCD display reads Insert Color Cartridge in Left Stall , the color cartridge may be causing the problem. Follow the steps below:
Clean the color cartridge contacts.
Reinsert the color cartridge into the carriage and close the blue latch.
Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.
If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , replace the color cartridge.
If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , follow the steps below:
Reinsert the color cartridge.
Remove the black or photo cartridge, depending on which one is installed in the right stall. The right stall has the gray latch. Be sure to refasten the latch on the empty stall.
Clean the black or photo cartridge contacts.
Reinsert the black or photo cartridge.
Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.
If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , replace the black or photo cartridge.
Remove and then reinsert the cartridge indicated in the error message.
If the error is still displayed, clean the contacts.
If the error message is Error. Remove and Check Black or Photo Cartridge , the following steps may help:
Remove both cartridges, lower the latches, and close the printer access door.
Turn off the unit by pressing the On button on the front panel. Wait for the printer to completely shut down.
Turn the printer back on by pressing the On button.
When the message display reads Insert Print Cartridges , open the access door and replace the cartridges.
If neither of the steps above fixed the problem, either the cartridge or the printer is faulty
