Dear szeee

maybe you can read this

Bluetooth hardware and software (Bluetooth Stack) is necessary in order to use Bluetooth.
Please turn your Notebook upside down and check whether or not a Bluetooth sticker is attached.
Check your product model sticker string above the serial number, if it includes a
"B" (=Bluetooth) near the end. In both cases Bluetooth is built-in.

A internal Bluetooth module should be in your system if the "System devices"
section of the "Device Manager" shows a "Bluetooth ACPI from Toshiba" device.
Have a look at the "Device Manager" picture below for more details.

Ensure that just one Bluetooth hardware is installed.

Read the “TOSHIBA->Bluetooth Hardware” section of the following webpage to find a suitable Bluetooth hardware:

First of all you have to make sure your laptop has bluetooth because not all does and if not, and the driver is installed, it will ask you for the hardware activation cuz it doesnt exist... you can check that on manual checking your precise model or with your vendor.

Considering it has bluetooth...

if the laptop does not have a switch, the other way is to enable it like any other thing on that laptop, which is by holding the Fn key that you can find usually next to Ctrl key, and at the same time pressing the buetooth button, (this is an extra function that you might find either in the F1,F2....F12 keys or other key in the keyboard), it is a small icon, if you dont recognize it try seeing your laptops manual. The tipical Bluetooth icon.

G luck

Depending on how old your laptop is it may or may not have bluetooth integrated. On newer laptops the switch for bluetooth will either be with the wireless switch or a software switch you have to activate with the software the manufacturer included. Otherwise check your local electronics store from a usb dongle with will cost around $40.00 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/IOGEAR+-+Bluetooth+USB+2.0+Micro+Adapter/8781348.p?id=1204332769878&skuId=8781348&st=bluetooth&cp=1&lp=1 is an example of one such adapter for cheaper than normal. Just follow the software included for installation and setup

BLUETOOTH ACTIVATION

You should try and download the software from the manufacturer's internet site, from which you bought the bluetooth dongle.
Toshiba manager and stack is only for built in solutions from Toshiba.

But haven't you got any CD or DVD with your dongle? Normally it is bundled with the device so that you can use it too.
R
The Toshiba Bluetooth stack on the Toshiba website is customized and designed for Toshiba notebooks.
You should use the Bluetooth stack which is customized for your notebook. Then you would not need to activate any BT.

But listen dude; your Satellite P200- 1C7 seems to be NOT equipped with the Toshiba internal BT module!
Therefore you would need to switch to another external solution

Sony TXN17P Bluetooth vagaries

Hmmm...

If you can connect manually but it is not connecting automatically, then you have a settings problem either on the phone (less likely) or within the applet on your laptop controlling the bluetooth services. Try that first before reverting to the XP bluetooth software; usually when companies include custom bluetooth software, it is necessary.

If you cannot connect at all...

If you have tried to pair the laptop with the Nokia using the Toshiba applet and it never seems to work, and you've tried adjusting the settings on the phone and in the applet, and you know the bluetooth card is on and running normally on the laptop, I'd suggest uninstalling the Toshiba drivers and software through CONTROL PANEL and then rebooting and see if XP takes control of the bluetooth adapter. If not, try uninstalling the bluetooth hardware in DEVICE MANAGER and then rebooting, which will force XP to do a clean install (including bluetooth support software) and see if this gets you to normal operation under XP. If not, go to the SONY web site and, again, do a clean install of their bluetooth support software for your model, and try again from there. One of these combinations is pretty sure to work.

Make sure that if your laptop has a physical button on it to activate the bluetooth radio, that it is on, and that the device is enabled through device manager/network/connectivity. Any one of these being mis-set can (especially on Sonys) result in a confusing set of inexplicable failure conditions.

Good luck...

Installing XP on Toshiba Portege R500 Notebook

Guys, if you have the genuine XP CD, please download the Storage Driver from Intel and slipstream it into your version of XP CD. You can also slipstream Service Packs into it as well.
Personally I hate Vista so much. It really brings out the angry devil in me.
By the way, the best and easiest way to slipstream is to install and use nLite http://www.nliteos.com/
Let me know if you want help on installing XP on R500 (I build it a few days ago, but regret to update the BIOS to version 1.06 as I lost the Ctrl key on it).
To get to the BIOS, press and hold the Esc key then Power button.
