Question about Olympus DS-2300 Digital Voice Recorder

1 Answer

Accidental erasing Doctor has used Olympus DS-2300 recorder for past 2 years. Lately there seems to be several voice files that are somehow being dropped before they get to the computer. He swears he dictated them, but they are not there and there are no voice file #s missing in the computer. He got a new recorder recently, same model. What is the most likely scenario? He nver had this problem until the last couple of weeks, never seemed to have trouble with the equipment before.

File was deleted before downloaded in folder 'b" on 03/27/08. Folder was reused on 04/02/08.

Check all folders on the recorder. Sometimes dictation inadvertently goes into another folder. Also; if the recorder is disconnected from the computer too soon after the expected amt of time it takes to upload to computer, the files may become lost (in space?) This has happened to my physicians in the past. Must leave the recorder connected to the uploading doc until you are certain files have been uploaded. Best to bring up the Olympus download folder to be certain.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

On my Olympus DS-2, although I have erased all my files the recorder shows that that there is little or no room for recording. This is the first time this has happened to me.

The amount of room available on the Olympus DS2 are determined by two things:

1. Avaiable Memory
2. Recording Mode

With that said, if you have formatted (erased) the files on the recorder and there is little recording room left, you will need to change your recording mode. I would recommend changing it to SP mode.

I hope this helps.

Editing? Can dictation be paused, then go back part way and....

you can not do this with the Olympus ws-100, you need a dictation machine that has the editing function which allows you to easily insert, overwrite, partially erase files and continue on the same file, most of the digital dictation units have NEW FILE BUTTON , you will stay recording on the same file till you press new.
Look at Olympus DS-2300. Olympus DS-33300 or ds-4000.
