I forgot my password, and can not log onto my computer as a whole.

You'll need to reset your Windows/Hotmail/etc. password. Microsoft has integrated the whole shebang, now. So once you have access (borrow a family member's or friend's) to another computer, reset your Microsoft password. Then, with the laptop hooked up to the internet, log in with the new password. That should work.

Lost Windows password:

• Login as Administrator. Try with no password (load safe mode if you don't see Administrator). Press F8 during boot to access Safe Mode. XP only.
  
• Login as other user (if other user is available) and manage users. Must be an administrator.
  
• Reformat computer.
  
• Use 3rd party software to remove password. Like http://www.top-password.com/reset-windows-password.html
  
• There is a free boot CD called Hirens. This one command prompt only. http://www.hirensbootcd.org/ Just tested this one and works. Just follow the exact steps.
  

You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. Depends what password it is. Is this to log into BIOS? Or log into a system account on an operating system? And if it is the latter, what operating system version do you have?

Power off. Power on while tapping F8. Choose safe mode. Log on as Administrator. Go to Control Panel/Users and reset your password.

You can use Offline NT Password&Registry Editor. But please use it to brake YOUR COMPUTERS ONLY!

Windows XP Pro:
At the log-in screen, press Ctrl/Alt/Del twice quickly
Type "Administrator" and leave password blank
