Question about Computers & Internet

I reformated my hard drive and I had used a San Disk Cruzer 1 GB hard drive to back up my data. After reformatting I can't read the San Disk. My boyfriend's past taxes are on this San Disk Cruzer. Any way to get the data out of the San Disk. When I put it in the computer it asks to reformat the San Cruzer and I say no as I think it will erase the data.

I need to reformat my pc please help it is compaq presario 6330ca

You will need a windows installation disk.

Insert the disc into the CD/DVD drive and shutdown the computer. After powering back on the computer you should be prompted with the installation screen. Follow the directions to reformat your computer.

If you have multiple partitions and would like to format only one that is not the operating system drive go to the control panel > System and security > Administrative tools > Computer Management.

Once Computer Management is open select Storage > Disk Management. You can select a partition you would like to reformat from here.

Reformating any drive will erase all data on that drive. Only do this if you are sure you want to. I would stronly recommending backing up all files you might want later.

Reformat my computer to windows 7

ATTENTION!
Reformatting a computer will reset it to the factor image, all data must be backed up or it WILL be lost. There are several reasons to reformat a hard drive. A few reasons include but are not limited to: driver issues, virus, cleaning up, getting rid of the computer, etc.

RECOVERY DISKS!
Every new windows 7 owner should know that the new computers are not supplied with recovery disks anymore. The manufacturer allows the user to create one set of disks upon the purchase of a new machine. It is important to create the disks early as driver issues and viruses may arise. In order to create recovery disks on windows 7 you want to click on the start menu. Next, type in recovery in the Start Search option area. Next, click on recovery disk creation and follow the process. It will require that you have about 3 dvds or about 7 cds to create the recovery disk.

REFORMATING HARD DRIVE!
Once the recovery disks have been made reformatting windows 7 is quite simple. Insert the recovery disks into the cd/dvd tray on the machine. You are now going to want to turn the computer off. When the computer has turned off, go ahead and turn it back on. A screen should pop up asking you whether you want to boot from Hard Drive or Disk. Choose the disk option. After you make it this far it is a downhill process. Next you follow the on-screen instruction make sure you reformat the machine, not recover it.

My hard drive on my computer is split into a c and d drive is there anyway to undo this?

What operating system are you running?
XP, you must get another program called partition magic and it will allow you to delete the unused partitions, then merge with the main partition.
Vista, go startbutton>control panel>Administrator tools>computer management>disk management
This will allow you to do the same. Delete the unwanted partitions, then enlarge the main partition to include the deleted partitions.
Why are you deleting these partitions? Usually one will contain a recovery data for repairing/recovering your computer and the other for diagnosis and repair.

Unable to delete data or format or partitioning samsung HDD

Have you tried booting from a Windows XP CD? If you have one available you can boot from it, delete the partition and format it. Works all the time for me.

I am usubg 845 gvrs motherboard now I want to installed extra internal harddisk what will be ideal harddisk and size

The size of the hard disk depends upon what type of programs you are running and the amount of data you need to store.
Programs that create large amount of data are audio and video files.
The tpye of hard drive depends on what type of disk controller you have, it could be IDE or SATA disk controller, you need to check your computer's hard disk controller.
The average hard disk capacity is 160 Gb to 180 Gb and goes up to 1 Tb, but the largest capacity drive your cmputer can support will depend upon the BIOS.

How to reformat without loosing wanted data??

best way to do this would be one of two options.

First copy all your wanted data onto a CD / DVD (DVD RW best) and then once you've reformated your pc copy them back onto your desktop

The next option would be to buy an external harddrive. These are great because you can just move all the data you want back and force between your computer and external harddrive. This might be your best choice but it is a bit more costly

I get a black screen that says a disk read error occured press ctrl alt del to restart

The problems is with your hard driver

First check the hard drive data cable and power cable are plug in well
Is that is ok

So you have to try to reformat the hard drive and reinstall a opertaing system (using a Operating system CD Or Boot able Disk)

IF it is not working you have to replace a new hard disk

My Pictures has suddenly slowed to a crawl.

1. The amount of pictures on your hard drive will not cause the slow ups that you are describing.
2. You can check your memory by removing one module and see if it helps. If it doesn't, check the other module by itself. I don't think it is though because if it were, you would be receiving some errors or some sort of random restart.
3. Look at your motherboard, specifically at the capacitors. Check to see if any of the capacitors have "popped", that is, are any of them rounded on top? They should all be flat. If just one has popped, it is your motherboard.
4. Also, run a scan of your hard disk. Your hard disk itself could be developing read errors and it's taking awhile for it to read the data. IMPORTANT: I would make it a point to make sure you have a backup of all your pictures asap because if this is the problem, it could crash at any time, possibly losing all your data.

Hope these tips help. Please don't forget to rate as fixya. Thanks.
