There is a reset button on your router. Just press it once it will reset your router but be aware it will lost your password settings and your network will be open for intruders. So after resetting put your password again.

Thanks

On the back, there is a small hole with "Reset" over the top of it. Inside there is a pushbutton switch. I believe you disconnect the power and hold the switch in for 30 to 60 seconds. This will reset the router to the factory default settings.

I have a Linksys wireless router that was given to me. I have the IP address user name etc. Just not sure how to add it

best thing is to reset it and start anew with it:

Linksys reset

The easiest method of resetting your Linksys router's password is to reset your router back to the default factory settings. This is done by simply holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset, it must be reconfigured. Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password "admin", in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to "admin" on some of the newer Linksys router models).

Router setup
If you are using the cd that comes with the router, that is the problem. You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:

If you have forgotten your LinkSys router password, the easiest thing to do is to reset your router to the factory default settings.
To restore the router configuration to factory defaults, hold the reset button on the unit for 30 seconds.
Once your router is hard reset, you will need to login and reconfigure it again.
To reconfigure your LinkSys, connect a PC to one of it's Ethernet ports, load a web browser, and go to the URL http://192.168.1.1/. This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login to your router.
