Samsung DLP hlp5685w won't come on

Gents,

I got a samsung DLP TV HLP5685W that won't come on and all I got on the front is a green light. I have replaced the Ballast because I have 330 volts in and 0 volts out. I put a new ballast in and have the same symptoms...Are there any Samsung DLP experts out there?

The lamp does not come on, the color wheel does not spin, but the fan does come on. Normally the front panel display goes through some kind of boot up, but now goes straight to a green light. The 12 volt, 5 volt, and 7.5 volt lights are green on the circuit boards, so I assume the P/S is working fine and as mentioned I have 330 volts into the ballast. I installed a new Ballast and I get 80 volts for about 3 seconds then goes down to 7.5 volts.

From what I have seen on the web when the bulb goes bad, there is supposed to be flashing lights on the front?

    Thanks

I have a constant 330Volts going into the Ballast. But the output of the Ballast right before the lamp is where I get 80 volts for about 3 seconds, then 7.5 volts after that.

There is only 1 fan in my TV and it is right under the light gun, it comes on and blows as soon as I plug in the TV.

    The TV is a HL-P5685W

    Type Number AT56L7

    Serial number 3970 39703CEXC0050T

    Made December 2004

Have you check the lamp? Does the lamp come on for about 4 seconds and then shuts down? Does the color wheel spin? Are all the fans turning?

Is this 330, 80, 7.5 volts that you are reading, The B+ that is going into the ballast?

the output of the ballast is not important at this time. lets go back to the start up. There are several fans in this set. We need to make sure that ALL fan are good. Check the return wire from all fans and make sure you see that wire go from "high to low".

There are 3 fans in your tv. They are not always easy to find. Also can you tell me everything that the front part of the tv is telling you. (the color of light and its name, and anything else that might be display on that front control area your tv). Get me the model and serial number of the set.

Did you get me the all the infor on the front of the tv with the light and any thing else that shows on the front of the set.

Hi I have a Samsung Tv. Model SP50L6HXX / XSA that wont turn on. there was a week buzzing noise for the last week or two, but tv will not start up now. The lamp light flashes on the front of tv. Can you...

I suspect the B+ voltage on the power supply can't regulate the voltage needed for the lamps to run entirely. The B+ voltage regulator looks like a small black box with a tapered top. This is dangerous to replace so be careful. Once you get a new one installed this will fix the issue you are having.

Hope this helps :)

Hlp5685w.....no picture

That was likely a capacitor that popped. Slight burning smell? You may need to have a technician come out to resolder a connection or two.

I have a samsung 56" pedestal DLP HLP5685, and it keeps turning off and on, on it's own. The bulb is only a few months old. Any suggestions?

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp. The lamp you need is BP9600677A you can find it here: http://www.discount-merchant.com/Samsung-BP96-00677A-OEM-Replacement-LAMP-BULB-p/samsung-bp96-00677a-lamp-oem.htm?Click=48173.Have a blessed one!

Samsung HLS5086W - spider crack on outer screen

The outer screen is called a Lenticular screen, it may come as a set with the Fresnel (the inner, and the way I would actually go) the screen is very hard to replace usually on a DLP as they have a somewhat sealed upper side and alot of screws.
