Are using the front ports on your computer, I ask this because some front usb ports wont reckognize your mp3 player.

Also are you using XP or Vista, the sansa will only work with XP or higher. ALternatly, you may want to try it on another persons computer and see if it's the device or your computer. Also make sure you have the latest windows media player 11.

You probably need to switch to Settings -> USB Mode -> MSC Mode, but here is the official troubleshootng from Sansa, since my article doesn't seem to be helping lately:

When mp3 connected with the computer it goes off because that will be acted as usb only and the other funcion will be disabled. Therefore don't worry.

Sansa will not detect

If you are using a USB connector [that connects extra ports to your computer] it sometimes doesnt work... so if possible hook the USB sansa cable to the main ports in the back of the server. It might also work to hook it in, and then go to 'My Computer' and see if it shows up there. Good Luck =]

I dont know how to put songs on my pearl mp3. can you help me ?

Plug the mp3 player into your computer via the usb port... the automatic detection should pull up a list of things you can do with it... click open folder to view files...if it doesnt if you do not have any other drives hooked up then it should be in the E:\ drive just go to run and type in E:\ and it should open that folder then drag and drop the music files into the "Music" folder that should show up in the E:\ Drive folder then once done unplug it from the computer and it should be on there thats how I do it on mine

My thing that hooks up from the mp3 to the computer wont work or somthing every time i plug it in it doesnt charge and the computer doesnt aknowledge it also i cant open up the phillips mp3 on my computer

If it's a standard cable, it's a USB to mini USB cable. Have you tried a different cable with similar ends? Also, have you tried a different USB port on your computer?

My computer will not show the music i have on my mp3 player

There is a super easy solution, if you are using windows try using a live cd, which is a bootable cd. Here is the link to a good one:

just download and burn onto a disc using an iso burner (

then boot up the disk and plug in your phone, the os should recognize the mp3 as a mass storage device just like a usb then you can retrieve your songs and delete them as you would files on a usb
