It seems to be a common problem... I went to load a new tape, closed the internal lock down door. The camera made a lot of noise like it was spinning and then mine beeped only twice and ejected it. If you close the internal door without a tape the unit closes up no worries. Loading it with a new or used tape, the result is the same... the camera ejects the tape.

My MV800 ejects with message "remove the cassette". I have tried both old tapes and brand new one but same message.

  • Anonymous Nov 29, 2008

I have exactly the same problem the camera does not accept the tape and bip twice before rejecting it, otherwise (without tape) it closes as it should do.

I READ THE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLKEM THIS MORNING ONTHIS WEBSITE, BUT I CAN NO LONGER FIND IT.

THE SOLUTION SUGGESTED DROPPING THE CAMERA ON TO A CARPETED FLOOR FROM HALF A METRE HIGH AS A FIX.

THERE WAS ALSO A POSTING FROM A GUY WHO HAD FOLLOWED THIS ADVICE AND IT FIXED HIS CAMERA.

SO I DECIDED TO FOLLOW SUIT AND I DROPPED THE CAMERA ON TO A CARPETTED FLOORT FROM HALF A METRE HIGH AND WHEN I TRIED IT WITH THE TAPE IT WORKED, NO JOKE, THIS IS AN HONEST AND TRUTHFUL REPORT.

REGARDS

I just bought this camera 2nd hand, got some tapes for it and put 1 in and didn't close, so I done what was said. A bit iffy bout dropping it from 50cm so I done 30cm and didn't work. So I done 50cm by dropping it on its battery put the tape in and it closed with tape in. I cant believe it worked. thank you

I tried, not the dropping of the camera but some hard claps on the shell and it works again! You don't believe it. Me neither. Had nothing to loose so did it anyhow.

SOURCE: tape not loading

Chances are it is in need of a major cleaning. Usually by the time this happens the cleaning tape will do no good. A good internal cleaning is usually the only thing that will help it........Has it been droped? If it has then you could need repairs

The capstan motor is broken and needs replacement. You could send it in for repair but it wouldn't be cheap.

Trouble working sony dcr-trv6 mini dv digital camcorder

( c : cassette : 30 capstan fg ) ; your capstan motor is stalling - try ( other brand ) new tapes and gently ! swaying camera from side while loading - if loads , your tape mechanism is dirty or is going out of alignment ; - - if the camera will not unload tape ? the capstan motor may be failing ( connector is loose , corroded ) or - it is jammed and it needs . . . disassembly . . . to complete checking .

Will not accept any tape

i bought this camara from someone with the same problem for 5 bucks at a yard sale. an easy fix. 1. blow the dust out 2. charge the battery. 3. put the tape in and when it gos down into the case close the door and turn it on, run tape on ff then rr then turn camara to record. if it says to eject tape at any time, eject it and do it again. it worked for me.
