Question about Lowrance LCX-19C GPS Receiver

Lowrance LCX-19C GPS Receiver Problem

After being turned on after a few moments the screen begins to get erratic and starts to show inaccurate depths or the screen almost goes black and starts to show 1 or 2 feet of water. It didnt always do this. I tried to isolate the power going to the unit by running directly to the batt. and shutting down the motor. Curious how to find out what is at fault ( unit, trans., trans. cable, electrical or something with way the trans. is mounted). It worked fine for 2 summers then went out to the dock one day and seems to be acting funny.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also wanted to know if I could send the unit to lowrance to have it tested.

I have the same problem. I have used the unit for a few years and all
was fine until last month. I tried the suggestion you got, but it did
not resolve the problem. Have you sent your unit to Lowrance? If so,
was it fixed and how much did it cost?

    Thank you very much!

similar problem with lcx 25c. sonar will randomly work and then cut out, digital depth reads 2.2 / 2.3. screen fills up with yellow/black/blue. the sonar will cut out at all different speeds. tried transducer angle, cleaned connections, shut off all other power, soft reset of unit. i plugged in my other lowrance and had the same problem so i assume it is cables or transducer. no visible signs of scratches on the transducer.

    any suggestions?

It sounds like you may have to send it out for service, but before you you do there are a few things you can try.

Low voltage can cause erratic behavior. Since you already wired directly to the battery, check the plug for corrosion.

Try unplugging the transducer cable to see if the display still behaves erratically. You wont see depth readings but you should still see the screen going black. If no erratic behavior with transducer unplugged then problem is in the transducer cable or the plug. A common source of failure is at the plug because the added stress of plugging and unplugging cables can cause the socket to twist slightly which can cause a short.

Make sure you have the latest software update.

How to see if your LCX-19C is already using version 1.8.0 software:

  1. Press the MENU button twice on your LCX-19C.
  2. Select SYSTEM SETUP.
  3. Select SOFTWARE INFORMATION.
  4. The software version for your unit is located under the line that says "LCX-19C" (ex. "Version 1.8.0").
  5. If your version is the same version listed above, there is no need to download the software.
If it is lower than 1.8.0 you can download the update from this link: LCX-19C UPDATE
Copy it onto a blank MMC card and install it in your GPS. The GPS should prompt you on how to install the update.

My Mark 4 sometimes shows incorrect depths. The transducer has not moved and no problem with electrical. One point it is working fine, the screen then runs multiple vertical lines and the depth chan

Take note if when the vertical lines appear on the screen if the depth numbers begin to flash. If this is the case then the transducer has lost bottom contact and the unit is trying to reacquire bottom contact. If the transducer is parallel to the bottom of the lake while your boat is not moving then, the next time you have it on the trailer, turn your unit on and go listen and or feel the transducer to see if you can hear and or feel the tick or sonar ping. If you can't your transducer may be faulty. If the loss of bottom contact occurs when you are moving it will happen at a certain speed. This is the result of air bubbles passing under the transducer and disrupting the sonar signal causing loss of bottom contact.

My samsung tv hlr5067wx/xaa screen turns black, sounds is fine. if i turn it off for awhile i can get picture for a few minutes, but it goes back to black screen

I suspect the lamp is failing on your TV. The lamp replacement code is listed on the side of the TV on a sticker that is orange and white. It will start with BP96-. The lamp code is crucial on these older Samsung DLP's because they used quite a few different styles. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thank you...

Bottom half of screen goes black

This is because full pixels of your TV is not getting invoked at the beginning .If you are able to view the picture as normal after 1 or 2 minutes, its fine.Else you need to call to service center and get this problem fixed.

Hi, your vertical section is beginning to fail, from your description you have a few electrolytic capacitors that are beginning to go bad, the correct term is they are "leaky", the set can be fixed easily by a tech, not so easy for a layperson because you don`t have the service manual or a capacitor analyzer. NOT an expensive fix, tech will have to remove board, unsolder some caps, check them and replace the bad ones, do a little touch up solder work and set is good as new, any questions? feel free to ask away, if not Happy Holidays, BMW Rider
