I have the same problem not being able to eject, play or anything with vhs tape. The unit keeps clicking like its trying to eject but doesen't. How do I get the tape unstuck?

I inserted a tape and set it to record a program. When I attempted to tape more programming, the "no tape" message appeared. I am not able to retrieve the tape. I would be willing to take it out manually, but it may be an electrical signal problem and I don't know how to by-pass anything like that. When I turn on the "Tape: player/recorder, nothing happens. Can anyone help me?
I have tried turning it off, unplugging it, restarting it, resetting it and holding stop/channel up.

I have the same problem and in addition to that now my DVD player will not open and there is a disc in there. I have only had this product for 7 months before i started having issues. The entire machine is useless now and I cannot seem to get assistance anywhere. The belt on the loader motor is slipping. This causes the tape to not completely position itself to allow the tape to load around the drum. The machine senses this and ejects the tape.
I had this problem when copying an old family vhs tape. I had to unscrew
the top of the magnavox to access the vhs tape. Then, I gently removed
the tape and replaced the cover. After winding the tape back, I put it
in the player and immediately pushed fast forward for about 3 seconds
before hitting play followed by d.dubbing. I was able to make a copy of
the tape and did not damage my original.
I can only speak to getting the tape out. If all else fails, you can take the player to your local best buy and have them remove the tape for a minimal fee of no more than 30$.
If you do not finalize the disc then you can not play it back. Go back to your instruction manual and look under 'setting options'. There should be a choice to 'finalize disc before ejecting'. The recorder will not finalize a disc until it knows when you are done recording, so you have to tell it somehow.
One touch function won't work from pre recorded VHS tape. Go to www.RCA.com under this dvd model and read the first line. Secondly you will have a better luck to use sony dvd+r . Good luck
My 1st suggestion is to pull the AC power plug from the wall, wait 5 minutes (have a smoke or a coffee) and plug it back in. Then retry the functions that are giving you grief. Report back with the results and we'll go from there.
